President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

Reported homicide fell by 33%. big difference. I was there a year ago, I personally didn't feel unsafe, but that doesn't mean there isn't a problem.
There are accusations that DC may have been “massaging” the crime numbers as well.

Surely that would never happen where political leaders were looking to show improvement.

Chicago, Detroit and LA seem like good options.

Lots of people got raises this year Janice. I would think flight attendants probably got $6K more this year. Who you hanging with?
I got a 14% increase in April and not one politician had anything to do with it. Of course, offers from other companies and headhunters 2 - 3 times per year definitely helps when negotiating a pay increase. I'm blessed for sure.

They will target people in very large groups in New Orleans now. So, you think you are safe walking around with 20 people or something and it just isn't the case. I use to go down to Bourbon St. basically every weekend in high school and college, and sometimes I would work down there as well or at the Super Dome. It was never truly a safe place but if you knew what you were doing, you could go by yourself. Now, nope. New Orleans has some really cool experiences but its just not worth it and really has gotten significantly worse since the hurricane.
I have not found any of this to be accurate based on my anecdotal experience.
In fairness, we do not got to Bourbon st or other "party" areas.

I'm not a badass. The joke is that it doesn't take a badass.

My sister has lived in NYC for nealy 20 years. She is an attractive blonde. To illustrate the point, she was one of the stars on a show on a premium channel. She has never, ever had a problem walking home at night by herself, and that includes when she lived in a dumpy apartment in Washington Heights for like 6 years. You don't really have to nut up to do this.

Not that you shouldn't be careful/smart. Not that property crimes aren't a concern. But the DC murder rate is high mostly because of homicides by people who know each other in certain neighborhoods. Random killings of tourists or commuters are extremy rare.
My "jab" was supposed to have a smiley face. My fault for not putting that there.

Agreed on homicide rates. Gangs, turf, domestic stuff with the occasional robbery gone bad thrown in

Go down there enough and find out. It has never been "safe" in New Orleans, if there is such a thing. Nobody I know goes down there anymore, and it use to be normal occurring thing. That doesn't mean you're going to get jacked up if you go down there, but... you're on your own.
