President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

Problem is not many people watched the show. If you have ratings, you have advertising and money. If you don’t you can only afford that kind of budget so long. The big conspiracy is Trump somehow had Skydance kill the show.

Let me ask you a serious question would you want to buy a company with a failing show like this? I mean it just makes sense to cut the people and products which are losing money and keep the ones which aren’t losers. This crap happens in M&A all the time.
Hell No! I'm not sticking up for the guy. I never watched it. If I'm not into a deep sleep by then, I'm coming home from a UT basketball game

NPR’s Top Editor Edith Chapin Resigns days after Congress yanks federal funding

NPR’s top editor and acting chief content officer is leaving the organization later this year — just days after Congress axed its federal funding.

Edith Chapin told staffers Tuesday that she is stepping down and that she gave her notice to NPR chief executive officer Katherine Maher two weeks ago, according to a report from NPR.

Last week, Congress slashed all $500 million in annual federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which backs NPR and PBS.

I read all the replies to my question about why Colbert's cancellation became political.

Apart from the president megaphone doing what he does and Colbert not appealing to his audience demographics, the rest is conspiracy.

I think Stewart is smart enough to adapt. Liberals got mad at him last year because he criticized/made fun of Biden's age and diminished capacity. Stewart puts laughs first and politics second. That was Colbert's issue. He did the opposite.

Big 3 late night is dead though to bring in someone established like Stewart. I dont think Stewart would want it either...
imo Colbert's issue imo was he became too focused on applause seeking, but he doesn't have the ability to deliver jokes accordingly.

he tells a joke, and then looks around for the applause, it can be awkward at times. he did better when he was more like Stewart when he could tell a joke but act like it wasn't a joke.

Every President and the majority of people on this board have talked about women’s p—ssies in many varying ways.
The dumbest part of that .....

^^^^ .... even though he had already publicly apologized for it, Donald Trump still tried to claim later on, that the Access Hollywood tape was fake.

Donald Trump will lie about anything.

Honestly everything is being made political lately. We’ve went so tribal that people on both sides are irrational AF. Trump has done plenty that the dems can be critical of. This Colbert conspiracy is stupidity though; show costed more than it produced, in a merger that thing is getting gutted.

Dems need to focus on what the American people want instead of getting on the wrong side of these 80/20 issues or in this particular case a show that no one gave a damn to support or watch.

Trump probably energizes more people than any candidate I can remember. Some because they love how brash he is when "sticking it" to the other side. Others are energized by their hate of him.

I have no idea what the american people want, tbh.

He is the most polarizing political figure I can think of in my lifetime. And it’s done on purpose I believe. It’s all part of the show.

It absolutely is. I tried, in vain, to inform people during his first campaign about his guiding life philosophy. "There is no such thing as bad press". That simple concept explains everything about the way he conducts himself in public. When in private, he can be radically different. In the absence of press, there is no need to pursue headlines.

Social media is also an issue. A lot of people are just having their irrationality reenforced by those algorithms forcing them into basically an echo chamber. It’s weird that we don’t get into any substantial discussion of topics anymore. Everything devolves into mud slinging.

I don’t trust it. Second hand garbage from unnamed sources.

100%

This is pretty much what Maher reported after having a one on one with him.
Yes sir. There is a female comedian who was being interviewed on a podcast. She might have done a roast of trump in his presence. He came up to her and congratulated her for her good work and that it will make for interesting headlines. In that moment, she realized 'he gets it'.

the drama we are fed from DC isn't real. it's for ratings.
