The myth that home ownership needs to be a goal the government actively helps people with needs to stop. I wouldn't touch a home loan at these rates. The days of a 3.0% rate are long gone. But I wouldn't be shocked to see 4.5%-5% in the not too distant future. I'd ride it out a few years.Sure, but what's going on here is nobody can get loans.
Agree with everything except seeing 4.5-5% rates. The myth that home ownership needs to be a goal the government actively helps people with needs to stop. I wouldn't touch a home loan at these rates. My wife and I bought our current home when the getting was good. 3.0% rate. She asked me if we should try to pay it off early. I explained that we will not pay this loan off early no matter what.
My daughter is super respectful to everyone. She knows it's one of the few things that will cause me to lose my cool is if I'm told or since her being disrespectful. The exception is with me. She and I have a very joking relationship. I have a bit of a problem with cursing. Not at her or anyone. But in general. My wife was mortified today, and I am in the dog house, because of what happened in the middle of the Rome airpor. My daughter thought I was being overly dramatic at this restaurant. She looked me dead in the eye and said loud enough for everyone to hear "You don't have to **** your pants about this." I laughed. Which didn't help things. As a hubby and father of a daughter I find it best to offer food and/or chocolate. If the hurtful statement remains after consumption, it's likely true.

There's no such thing as being overly dramatic in Rome, or Naples. My daughter is super respectful to everyone. My new home cost a mil..and let me tell you its nowhere NEAR what I think a million should buy you outside of California/Big Cities. Granted I'm real close to DC, have 1.5 acre, 3 car garage, and 3200 sqft..my toilets should be made of f##king gold (MAGA!) but they aren't. They don't even have bidets. And the best rate I can get with a VA loan is 5.5 which is a far cry from the 2.5 I had on my last house. Upside, I don't pay property taxes in VA.The myth that home ownership needs to be a goal the government actively helps people with needs to stop. I wouldn't touch a home loan at these rates. I think this is ok as long as people have the ability to select if their 401K invests in private equity. I'm no financial brain surgeon though so take that with a bag of salt.![]()
Trump to allow 401(k)s to invest in private equity: report
President Donald Trump is expected to sign the directive soon, though the details are still under discussion.nypost.com
Don’t know for sure, but I would think an investment like that would be clearly delineated by the 401K providers/third party manager (e.g. Fidelity). Would have to have safeguards such as a prospectus much the way mutual funds/etfs have so people are aware of what they are investing in. I likely wouldn’t do it though.I think this is ok as long as people have the ability to select if their 401K invests in private equity. Completely agree with your first sentence. Being in a volatile industry I really had to scramble post 9/11 when I got laid off. Mortgage was well within our means, but we were a lot younger and had not had time to put a ton of money away. When everything got back on track I went to work on that mortgage with a couple of refis for even better rates and extra payments. Been in the house 24 years and the peace of mind getting that mortgage gone a few years ago is priceless. Rates on my first house were about where they are now and we thought that was pretty good back then. The out of sight housing inflation definitely makes 6-7% hard to stomach today, though. The myth that home ownership needs to be a goal the government actively helps people with needs to stop. Bidets are overrated. Nothing your average garden hose can’t handle…as long as your neighbors are cool with it.My new home cost a mil..and let me tell you its nowhere NEAR what I think a million should buy you outside of California/Big Cities.
