Direct taxation is okay when its focus is on the privileged granted by The People, an example would be corporate profits which was what the income tax was original meant to be. What the government creates, the government should be able to destroy or tax as a generalization. Property tax also use to be a bi-product of the commercial activity generated at the property. We as a nation lost that, meaning taxing property directly with no nexus or it evolved to that.
