Preservation Pub in Knoxville, anyone been to it?

Pretty good bar. There is a hipster vibe most of the time, but Friday's or Saturday's its pretty diverse. Downstairs is kinda cramped but thats not an awful thing. Would you want to go to a bar that didn't have anyone inside? Upstairs is open and is non smoking. They are planning on opening up a rooftop bar; I actually think it is about done. There is also some patio seating in the front.

They do have some draft beers but more bottles; you can get some of the "high gravity" beers at p pub that you can't get at other bars.

I would definitely recommend it; plus it is near a lot of other bars.

One of the best bars in the city because of the beer list. Definitely hipster central. I go there a lot and see the same folks that I see at Union Jack's and the Public Haus.

The clientele at Preservation Pub is definitely not representative of the average Knoxville citizen.

I would call it a dive bar. But I think that term is relative.
Marie's is a dive. The Dixie Lounge is a dive. Opal's was a dive. Preservation Pub in no way fits any reasonable definition of a dive bar.

Chatterbox can be added to the list. It does make me laugh that people think the pub is a dive. Snakesnatch lodge on the square back in the day was a dive as well

I wouldn't call it a dive bar. It has an eclectic clientele, and that can change as the evening progressive. The later you go, the younger you go. I'm well within the baby boomer demographic and have never felt uncomfortable there, even if I am a little older than average.

The recently opened 2nd floor provides a bit of a sanctuary from the main floor, which can be quite loud and crowded.

Hope the gig went well!

I'm still confused at it being called a dive bar. It's the opposite: a Bohemian/hipster, artsy sort of bar on weekdays.

I concede that it is a little more mainstream on the weekend.

That is a good thing. Nothing worse than a mainstream bar.
