Premiere League & World Soccer Thread

I am convinced that Forest's issues this season were primarily based on playing deep into Europa without having the depth to compete in two leagues. Mixed blessing.
That is almost entirely why I’m not all that upset Everton missed out this year. Our squad is so thin right now that we ran out of steam in April playing nothing but PL games. The fact that Moyes doesn’t rotate the squad at all and rarely even us use all his subs didn’t help.

We aren’t ready to add the additional fixtures, and having just gotten ourselves back into regular mid-table obscurity, I don’t want to be back down in the relegation scrap next spring because we get overextended.

Once Champions League was out of play for Chelsea I truly didn’t care whether we went to Europa or UECL. Neither would provide massive financial gain even if we won it.

Squad looked apathetic the moment Maresca snaked his way out of there and by the end of the year we were run down bad. Even with a decent size squad, no one looked like they cared and/or they were just exhausted. We were out ran by every single team except one or two matches this year in team distance covered in a game.

Gut the squad and kick out the cancer. Let Alonso get a season under his belt with a smaller squad and with a less congested fixture schedule and see what he can do.

Really looking forward to attending several WC matches since they are so affordable.
For starters, the group stage matches are almost all meaningless trash because 48 teams is too many and hardly any teams will actually be eliminated in that phase. The best group stage game in Atlanta is probably Spain v Saudi Arabia. Current low price on StubHub to get in the door? $650/ticket. Absolute insanity.

I was and still am pissed the corrupt FIFA went to 48 teams.

Months ago I set a price to see Brazil at $600, even though that is absurd. Currently they are over $1500. I have been a fan of Brazil since I was 8 or 9 and would love to see them despite Neymar being named to the squad.

I don’t remember what I paid to see a match n ‘94, but it had to be below 50 bucks.

Interesting if true. He’s at least good cover for Udogie (when he inevitably gets injured) and seems to have a positive mentality.

I wanted him in January, this team needs high character guys obviously, will be great for the locker room.

But I need to see a contract signed in blood before I believe it.

Definitely great addition to the locker room. Andy is one funny SOB.

81 million for Anthony Gordon seems absurd. But, I am not a fan of him, so my judgement could be clouded.
It’s not just the price. Anthony Gordon to Barcelona at all seems absurd. He certainly showed flashes of promise while he was at Everton, and I’d describe what I’ve seen of him at Newcastle as “good, not great”. Admittedly I don’t watch Barça hardly at all, but I’d be shocked if he got regular game time for them.

For now it’s looking like a moot point. Doesn’t look like they’re willing to meet Newcastle’s asking price.
