Premiere League & World Soccer Thread

He’ll have to play 4 or 5 matches before I believe the signing is real.
I’m still waiting on the “it fell through due to some technicality tweet”.

In all seriousness, I like the transfer. We desperately needed someone in that position. The fee is lower than the ones quoted for the Eze and Gibbs-White deals and I don’t feel like Simons is any better or worse overall than they are. I hope he translates well to the Premier League. I’ve liked his game ever since I saw him play in the Euros.

The VAR decision that disallowed the Fulham goal was terrible even by VAR standards.
It’s incidents like that that lead people to believing that VAR is not about getting the calls right and really just officially sanctioned match-fixing.

They’ve ruled it out for a “careless challenge”, but it’s a reach to even call it a “challenge” at all. Muniz just got there well ahead of Chalobah and stepped on his foot as he turned upfield. If not for getting his foot stepped on Chalobah would have gone steaming through and committed a foul himself.

It had no semblance of a challenge.

Best league in the world has the worst refs
What makes it so stupid is the actual ref who saw it at full speed from ten feet away got the call correct. It wasn’t until someone in an offsite office park started watching it in slow motion that the problems began. The on field ref still deserves some blame for not showing a little backbone and sticking with his call after being summoned to the monitor.

So if they get Isak and Guehi today, Liverpool will have spent well in excess of half a billion dollars this window, right? I know they’ve brought in a decent amount through sales, but that’s still hard to fathom. They aren’t Chelsea.
