Premiere League & World Soccer Thread

some big changes for sure.

posting this for others who haven't seen the list of changes
Hopefully it doesn't get approved in this current form. The fact that (coincidentally) only six votes would be required to veto ANY financial takeover of a club is probably the most appalling. Basically United, Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Spurs would have total authority to prevent any club from being purchased by someone with the finances to challenge them.

This is nothing more than an egregious effort by the top six to bribe the lower leagues into giving them a perpetual and unbreakable monopoly at the top of the game in exchange for a little bit of financial support during this difficult time for them due to the pandemic. Would suck for Leicester, who have actually built from the ground up and become a legit European contender every year, but would get locked out entirely under this proposal. Of course, allowances have been made for Man City, who just bought their spot in the upper echelon a decade ago.

Everton were pretty fortunate in the first half. If not for Van Dijk being offside by a fraction of an inch they almost certainly would have been 2-0 behind and down to ten men inside the first ten minutes.

Don’t get me wrong, I can’t wait for the day when Everton FINALLY win the Derby. They haven’t won it since I’ve been supporting them. That said, I’m kind of glad it wasn’t today. When it does happen, it will be cause for major celebration, and I’d rather it happen when all the fans can celebrate accordingly without putting untold numbers of people in danger. As opposed to today, when the city just went back into Tier 3 lockdown.

All things considered, really happy to come away with a point and stay top of the table for another week.

Seriously though...West Ham scored on a simple header, then got an own goal, Bale missed a one on one with the keeper and Lanzini scored a once in several lifetimes goal woth the final kick of the game from outside the box.
