Some tasty R16 matchups in the champions league.

Chelsea v PSG
Real Madrid vs City (again..)

Meanwhile, Arsenal with the cake walk to the final 4 on their side of the bracket.

13th matchup between Madrid and City this decade I believe is what I saw.
Yeah I think it may have been Curtois from Real Madrid who said yesterday “We all know it’s going to be City again.” And then mentioned something about 10 plus times in the last however many years. Crazy.

Yikes. Real, City and Bayern in that 4 team cluster is rough. I’m low key pulling for Bayern on the pipe dream that Kane will come home and save us if he wins the Champions League.

Unfortunately, Arsenal have a cakewalk to the semis. Barca are probably the only team who can beat them on that side of the bracket.

I hope by some miracle 33 points is enough to stay up. That is the most optimistic point total I see for Spurs.

I still think they’re going to stay up comfortably. Palace, Brighton, Sunderland, Leeds, Forest, and Wolves all still left to play. It’s looking like 34-36 is going to be the number for safety this year. I just can’t conceive of them not finding 5-7 points from all that.

But all that said, they haven’t won yet this year, and Fulham are absolutely playing them off the park today.

I don’t have much confidence in getting points from Brighton, Sunderland or Leeds. Last match against your Everton could be huge.

Wish Spurs could play City 4 more times this season.

Two wins and you’re probably safe. Bodes well if it comes down to the final day that Everton have a terrible record away to Spurs. Almost certain we’ve never won at the new place, and can’t immediately recall a win at WHL either.

Also, what has gone wrong for Richarlison at Spurs? He’s a borderline club legend at Everton, and every time I see him actually play now he seems to make an impact. However, it feels like every manager at Spurs will only use him as a late game sub like today.

I like Richarlison, I like his intensity. But he seems to have an impact when he comes off the bench way more than when he starts.

Sheffield Wednesday has an impressive -50 goal differential.
Obviously there’s a ton of extenuating circumstances, but being mathematically relegated in February is crazy. Honestly, I think their fans are just grateful that the club has managed to avoid folding completely, at least for the time being.

Well apparently today’s Arsenal vs Chelsea game was really just Set Piece FC vs Red Card FC. Fun stuff.

Article in the Athletic about the last time current EPL teams were relegated. Since Liverpool were promoted in ‘62, they have never finished lower than 8th. Pretty impressive.
