Predictions for the team after week 1.

I predicted 9-3, losing an OOC game and 2 conference games. I am on track so far, although I am concerned about gettiing the 9 wins.

I think 9-3 is realistic. I think we roll UGA again and if we can play Ark w/ our starting QB this time we win. We lose a squeaker to the Gators and a random upset, which I predict happens at Kentucky.

Another issue I have is the consistent lack of bowl preparation. Aside from the A&M win, we have been AWFUL in bowls. I guess my prediction will be 9-4 then.

Ainge was averaging less than six yards per completion. That's not good. It's not normal to complete 32 passes and not have 300 yards, especially when your team is trailing the entire game.

For this I will play the "it's only game 1 card". They will grow.

Also keep this in mind...you know very well that the Cal coaches made a point to tell the DBs to stay behind the Vol receivers. Due to what happened last year when they would play too close, miss a tackle and BAM....65 yard TD catch and run, they had to have made a point to play off a bit...thus allowing shorter completions. That average will increase as the season goes along.

5-7

Losses to Cal, UF, UGA, Bama, USC, Arky and Kentucky.

Get ready, mark it down.

If that happens, I'll gladly jump on the Fire Fulmer bandwagon 100% :good!:

Right now I'm of the opinion that he still deserves to suck it up a bit more before he gets FIRED. He's done too much to lose his job over 9 wins and some disappointments. I'd say I'm at 40% for firing him right now, 40% giving him another couple of years, and 20% "pushing" him out the door to retirement and a cushy job at the University instead of just firing him.

With what I saw last night, it will be a very long year. We Had:

No sign of a Pass Rush Whatsoever:banghead2:
Almost completely boring running game:banghead2::banghead2:
Our Run Defense Looked like a sieve with big holes:snoring:
Our Pass Defense Looked like a sieve with bigger holes:snoring:
Our Speed looked as if we were even slower than Cal. this year:censored:
Our Down the Field Passing Game must not have made the traveling squad and was left at home in Knoxville:shakehead:

But we made up for all those weaknesses by not Blocking and Tackling:realmad:

Why can't we have a passing game that works 15+ yds down the field instead of just 5-8?:dunno::dunno::dunno:

I just hope we are not that bad and Cal was that good. If not, after the Florida game, we will all be wearing paper sacks over our heads. Florida, I'm afraid will light up that porous defense.

We will be able to score several points on a weak Florida defense but they may need an extra digit added to their column on the scoreboard when we go into the swamp.

The guys have 4 days to work on the problems and easier team coming up maybe they can find some answers.

I have been a devoted fan for years but last night's game was one of the most dissappointing efforts I have seen.

Hopefully this team will learn how to tackle a little better as the season continues. I just can't conceed a loss to Bama just yet.

No. 4 Texas 21 (1-0) , Arkansas State 13 (0-1)

The Indians had more first downs and total yards and gave up fewer penalty yards and turnovers. But they couldn't convert on third or fourth down.

i guess we should take every game very seriously.... don skip over the ooc game when predictin

Don't worry folks. Phil will get the defense figured out. In his words, "The Cal-TN game will be a great film to study". Oh thank god, I was worried for a moment there.:eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:

Guys.. it's not the O that's the problem! IT'S THE D!

Am I the only one that thought the O looked good (other than the lack of big play at WR)? We were sharp and physical and multiple. If we score as well and easily the rest of the way as we did against Cal we'll win a lot of games by simply out scoring people.

Our problem is the D- especially stopping the run and getting pass rush! If we can figure that out then I say we drop 2 more. (FL & Ark)

do you think brimsfield will get a look at d-line this year he is big and strong and could plug some holes. the waythe d-line looks it would not hurt

What ever happened to Tennessee's "Maverick" defense? remember how effective it was against Florida that year and I only remember seeing it used as a major part of the defense one other time after that...against LSU.

I say 9-3 or 8-4.

Could be better if defense can improve. Interior line play on defense is terrible. This isn't acceptable at UT. Improvemement must be made or we are going to be a joke on defense.

Offense looked good and Ainge in particular. Once again, big plays killed us.

Since the d is worse than last year, I dont see it getting better all of a sudden. So I say we still lose to:
FLA
UGA
BAMA
SC
ARK

8-4, Cal FU Bama and UGA. Arky and Carolina will be GREAT games. Hopefully it is enough to get Fulmer fired, if not WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PIG SOUEY RAZORBACKS!

Since you now have seen the kind of product UT will be fielding this year, what do you think will happen the rest of the year?

Mine prediction is that UT will finish 8-4 with losses to Cal (duh), UF, UGA and Bama. South Carolina or Arky did not impress me yesterday. Kentucky might beat us if we dont find a secondary.

i said that same record in the spring and everybody said i was crazy.
