Predictions for 07-08 bball starters

With Smith getting his waiver granted, I think it's a given he will take Bradshaw's spot at the 4. I'd say the rest of the lineup will stay the same. 3 Smiths in the starting 5!

PG Ramar Smith
SG Chris Lofton
SF Jajuan Smith
PF Tyler Smith
C Wayne Chism

Obviously Crews, Childress, Howell, and Prince (when he becomes eligible) will be big contributors off the bench. Haven't seen enough of B. Williams or C. Tatum yet.

Edit: You guys are right. Tabb will be a big contributor as well, especially on defense. Sorry I left him off.

Not necessarily true. There will be other variations at the beginning of the year that will help set that line up for the SEC. Just remember that this will be the first year that CBP will not be limited to what he can do with the post positions. Crews, Chism, Childress, and T. Smith give him a legit 4 man post rotation (don't rule out B. Williams to early either).

Also, Prince gives Pearl the option of sticking him at 4 to take over the "point forward" that Dane encompassed the last 2 seasons. The difference being that Prince is somewhere in the 6'6"-6'9" range and eliminates too many height disadvantages that were very prevelant with Dane.

This is just a tip of the iceberg post as there are several other reasons I can think of as to why that line up is not set in stone. Be creative and remember that CBP is not "stuck" with running 3 guards anymore unless he really just wants to.

Josh Tabb will get playing time, as well.

As an aside, remember how much more effective J. Smith (perceived or otherwise) was as a 6th man two years ago. He deserves to start for the contributions he's made, but that may not be best for the team when it comes to winning championships.

ok im gonna make a bold prediction and say that the starting lineup by the time March Madness rolls around will be...

PG- Ramar Smith (Howell)
SG- Chris Lofton (Tabb)
SF- Tyler Smith (Jajuan Smith)
PF- JP Prince (childress)
C- Wayne Chism (Crews)

TN is going to a very tough 8 deep, and if you include Childress in there then they're 9 deep. I was actually quite impressed with his ability to hit big shots against tough competition in the tourney last year, I *hope* that really boosted his confidence.

uh....JP Prince isn't a PF. If T. Smith and Prince were in the same line up Smith would be the 4 and Prince the 3

Neither was Bradshaw. We're talking about the "point forward" that CBP likes to employ during a good portion of games. The 4 is not a true PF, more like a second ball handler that that is effective along the baseline and also allows the PG (Ramar) a little more flexibility to run the court and create open looks for himself. Ramar is a natural scorer through his career and would be a waste if we only used him as a "true point."

if you have a guy who can play PF why not put him there? My point was just that Prince isn't a PF and never has been and if he and T. Smith are in the same line up, Smith would be the PF and Prince either SF or G :eek:k:

Smith isnt a true 4 either... if u havent realized it, Pearl likes having a guy at the "4" who can handle the ball and get to the rim and cause mis matches at the 4 position, now sure Smith would be more suitable for the Power F than Prince, but its not Power F in Pearl's lineup, its called Point F and Prince is probably the most suitable, dangerous guy for that position on our team now..

If Duke can raise his FT percentage 30%, then he just might get the start over JuJuan. By checking him out in the Rocky Top league, I think he's far from it. He is playing some awesome ball right now though. If he can develop a short range shot, he would be so dangerous. From what I've seen he's the most improved player.

I hope JuJuan is working on his driving to the basket like Lofton did last year. Haven't seen it yet, but I think it would improve his game tremendously.

Man I'm excited. This is the first year I wish we could get our boring football team over with their 9-4 record so we can play some basketball. We're officially a basketball school. :)

As much confidence as everyone has in our basketball team it would really be terrible if we ended up turning into what LSU did this year, but we we have Bruce Pearl not that joke of a coach Brady. In just 2 years Bruce has taken us to have much greater expectations than our football team. I can't wait to November!

:disappointed: there is no problem with being more excited about basketball, but don't wish the football was over. thats just not being a good fan
