kptvol, Taylor just needs to do it or get out of the way.
The Vols tried to work him in last year even with the trio they had. He didn't produce.
Again, he got probably better chances than any WR after the first three last year and didn't produce... and I can't understand why.
Austin Rogers was fourth on the depth chart, and he got the opportunity to fill in for Bret Smith when he missed a game. After Rogers went out, Taylor stepped in and did alright. I don't really see where he had any problems. Ainge probably wasn't looking his way as much when Meachem and Swain are on the field. I do remember one pass in the Air Force game that Ainge underthrew. Taylor caught it, but he had to slow down and wasn't able to get the sure TD it looked like he had.
Rogers IMO has a better chance to start than Taylor. Like you said he was 4th on the depth chart. It's a shame he had mono last season. Taylor is what he is, an undersized guy that plays hard. However, with Hancock stepping up and O'Neal coming in it looks bleak for Taylor.
I don't want to start on Shelley.
I've never thought that Taylor was a true receiver. In his case, it's just seems like they're trying to make him one hoping he'll catch some short passes and turn it into something. He could I guess, but we're all still waiting.I think Taylor has some skills that those other guys don't have. He might not be the best receiver, but I think the coaches want to find ways to get him the ball.
