Prediction for this season.

Too many unknowns
New Defense that the word is takes a couple of years to grasp, hoping the players Knowles got transferring in helps speed that up
QB with no real game experience, hoping Matthews has worked hard with the Jugs machine to cut down on those drops.
Who do we think will be out main RB
I'll say 7-5 for now. If we lose to Auburn with the amount of player turn over they've had and new coaches it's probably going to be a long season
If the new defense takes "a couple years to grasp," then it's too damn complicated. We will run the football effectively and play action off the run game. Defense has to come around this season, game one.

Well that's the word about Knowles defense. It takes a few years to implement but once it's in place it's a good one.
I did question if that is viable with the state of CFB now in that players don't stick around now but appears some of his players are coming with him so that should help the learning process

Halzle still the OC and a lot of youth heading into ‘26. Defense should be improved though.

8-4 will be the ceiling.

Defense will be completely new.

Offense will be different too with an inexperienced QB.

Theres no way in my mind we are better than we were last year. Defense cant be worse but I just dont see the offense being as good as it was last year either.

I think 8 wins is best case, 5 wins being worst case with 6-7 wins being most likely.

I'll go 6-6 for now.

The even number years under Heup has been his best seasons, 2022, 11-2 won the Orange Bowl finished in top 6. 2024 10-3 made the playoff finished ranked in top 10. Also beat Bama both those years hopefully this trend continues in 2026.

12-0 until it doesn't happen.Don't ever count our losses til they occur. If you're born with a losers mentality, just stay on your computer and foster your ass until you are the same.
Lighten up Francis…most people don’t have their heads in the sand. Our administration is making a mess out of the NIL to the point our championship baseball coach left. We are being so outspent that we’ll never catch Texas, LSU etc…I don’t care how good Huepel is, (and I think he’s very good) players will make the difference 100% and we are wondering who will play in the secondary.

9-3 minimum. Brought in some studs on defense. Gmac is gonna be fine book it! Playoffs isn't out of the question!

I dont see a team on the schedule that we could not beat. I know that doesn't mean we will but on that premise, I'm going 12-0 regular season until we dont.

6 wins is the floor, and 8 wins is the ceiling. South Carolina is the trap game after an emotional loss to Bama at home in a close game.

I think Heupel will be on the hot seat at the end of this season.

Hope I'm wrong and he wins 9-10

Loser mentality
Big difference in loser mentality and realism. Making an informed prediction based on past years, current roster, defensive changes, new QB is only a “loser mentality” in unrealistic pumpers eyes.

The 4 win crowds are silly. The 12 win crowd is also silly. We can use some common sense to predict we fall somewhere in between.

Wow, a large portion of our fanbase genuinely doesn't pay attention to anything going on with the football team. How can you look at this team on paper and not get excited? Tennessee fans have been begging for a new DC, a new safeties coach, and a new strength coach since Heupel got here and he literally hired guys who are widely considered to be some of the best of the best at their positions this offseason.

Why lie to yourself? There are plenty of things to be happy about that you have way more control over.
I mean that is what makes if fun. I tell myself every year it could be the year we win it all. Though with my son only being 6 and daughter less than a year if we could only win one more time in my lifetime Id rather it be when they are adults vs kids. I barley remember the championship in 98 bc of it.
