JUst because we are having an awful year doesn't mean other coaches are.We may have to wait for a while to hire a coach If Hamilton waits it out, I think there will be several coaches interested. Hiring right now, he may wind up with a second teir coach quit possibly. I can't see any coach acting like he's interested right now, it would be stupid. He could get fired. You have to convince your boss it's nothing but the media and you are not interested. I grant you we get a top coach we are talking Bob Stoops type money IMO. There are several top coaches out there we just need to be patient and hope for the best. Hamilton rushes and hires the wrong guy, we start the hiring process all over again in a few years.Don't think Texas Tech want shell out big money to keep their coach either. Money talks and bullcrap walks.

I think we are looking to spend big bucks as well. I can't think of one option that I have heard to date that wouldn't be better than what we had.

I don't think that we can possibly know that - particularly with coaches like Peterson and Brewster. Unless you're talking about an upgrade over this season alone (or the last few seasons), we are obviously making a coin flip - and history tells us that it isn't even a fair coin. We obviously needed to make a change, but I think that there are very few "sure things" out there.

Any of those guys could go 3-9 with this football team.

Of course they could go 3-9, but that's not improvement - the question is, could they go 4-8? :p

No, I completely agree with you there...that's why I said unless you're talking about the current season (or even the last several seasons). As far as improving on what we had...we're talking multiple SEC championships and a national title - I don't think that just any of those guys will improve on that. The timetable addressed by your comment wasn't clear to me...

Would this football team be as bad as they currently are under different coaches? Probably not... But, I would doubt there are many coaches in the country who could come in and beat both UK and Vandy at this point..the team is in complete dysfunction.

I think as long as we keep recruiting well, there is no way we can do any worse. That is how Fulmer won the games he did. We all know he never developed any of the talent.

Would like to see a preview of events to come but will have to wait like everyone else. Money will be a factor and depending on timing and luck will bring us who we want.

I think UT pays around 3 million. I don't see them going Saban size salary. But, you are right....Start talking 6-7 million and people will come by the masses.

I think it will take a substantial pay raise, and I wouldn't be stunned if 4 million wasn't enough to get him.

I'm calling BS on that one Lex. Any kind of coach at all would win at least 6 games based on the schedule alone. Let's face it, had this team been prepared and properly schemed at all (as well as having its attitude properly focused), it had no business losing to really bad UCLA, Auburn and Miss State teams, and should have easily overmatched teams such as UAB, Northern Illinois and Wyoming.

A real coach would have snuck out at least two more wins and finished 8-4 at worst.
