Predicting Win-Loss Records for Vegas' Top College Football Favorites in 2016

Haha...Like I said, we have a few Homers..but most are realistic. Pitt always has our number, no matter the talent on the team. And true...most are not worried about Tennessee..just because they are SEC. We need baby steps of re-building..concentrate on just winning the division first! I'm just assuming based on your quote, you were in the thread referring to the Vegas Line! 11.5 is a pretty high number and I believe VT covers with a 10 point loss...that's why there not worried about Tennessee on that thread. Trust Me...realistic VT fans know that Tennessee is Loaded this year...but stranger things have happened...that's what makes the game of football so GREAT!

I actually found another thread with some Tennessee posts in it.

Not saying they are any crazier than a lot of our fans, but come on, they were talking about how your JUCO QB ran for 200 and threw for 200......in the Liberty Bowl? They were saying this thinking it will be the same against us. Do they not actually watch football outside of their own team. Did they not see the 45 - 6 beat down we put on the #13 team in the country. Do they not know that our QB.....and one of our RB's are on the Heisman watch list?

I understand thinking you'll beat the spread (I personally don't think you will) as a fan, I understand wanting/hoping/thinking your team can/will win (UT fans have had to deal with our share of that over the last several years), but seriously......We have the third most experienced team in the country. The most experienced P5 team. We'll probably lose 5 - 8 (maybe more) to the NFL next year.

My prediction: VT keeps it close for a bit, but in the end UT wins by 14 - 17 pts.

JMO though. :hi:

Haha..thanks for the welcome! Let my Hokies stick to the ACC, we don't want to get an SEC beat down like Vandy every Saturday!:)

Just saw this post. I think VT could do well in the SEC. It would take a few years, but really think over the long haul, they would be one of the better teams in the East. Top half at least.

Idk..we didn't have a JUCO QB last year (Brewer) was a transfer from Texas Tech...and he didn't run for 50 much less 200 in that game. Our QB this year...not named yet but will probably be Jarod Evans (#4 JUCO QB) last year. 14-17 is a reasonable line of thinking and I could see that play out as well...but that's a convincing win but hardly a beat down. We do have a 1000 yard rusher and receiver...and arguably one of the best TE in the nation in Hodges. Hopefully we have an actual functioning offense this year and keeps the game respectable.

I'll take 10-2 so long as we beat both UF and Bama and reach ATL.

that would mean we wont make it to the SEC championship game. i would rather lose to bama regular season and beat UGA. If we don't beat UGA and have two losses in conference you can kiss SEC championship game goodbye.

Yes..Hokie Nation is pumped! I am hoping the exposure will help with recruiting. Its been down a few years. If we can turn it around and get a few 9-10 win seasons..we will get some top recruits to Blacksburg. 17/18 yoa kids want the lime light and want to win..who can blame them!

Fuente was a homerun hire for VT. Most of Virginia's in-state talent has been going to UV the past few years, but I'm expecting that to change in a hurry. That could be bad news for us though, because we recruit several top notch athletes from Virginia every year.

I don't think it will be a beat down. I just think we beat the spread. But of course I would, I'm a UT fan.

I actually like VT. I think the fan bases are much more similar than either one wants to admit. The biggest difference fan wise IMO is the sheer numbers and I don't believe that is even close. There is a reason TN games get a lot of air time. We're a large TV market as well as filling our 100,000+ stadium. Even when we sucked......and then sucked again.....and again....ok, I gotta stop, I'm getting depressed...lol.

Dude...no way in H do we lose to either of these teams. I think we go 11-1 with a loss to Bammer. However, we atone for that loss in Atlanta by laying a smackdown on Little Nicky. GO VOLS!!:dance2:

Agree. Maybe its the old way of thinking, because fulmer and certainly Dooley had a propensity for losing games they shouldn't. However, Butch has so far done a good job of not letting his teams look past lesser opponents. I can't recall a game that Tennessee lost to a team with lesser talent. Maybe Vandy his first year. But the said truth is that, that Vandy team may have been as talented as UT at the time.

If the version that was on the field the last two years showed up, though, it would be a pretty rough going.

This was a Hokies team that two years ago saw a game against a 2-9 Wake Forest team end 0-0 in regulation before ultimately losing 6-3 in double overtime.

Putting it here- cause I'm new and cant post topics!!! Hello Vol Nation...allow me to introduce myself. I'm an avid Virginia Tech fan...(not trolling)..just wanted to invite you to check out The Keyplay.com and partake in good, fun, discussion on the upcoming Battle at Bristol. We had a bunch of OSU fans on the site the last 2 years, discussing the games between our teams. We have some great folks on the site, also some down right tailholes, but most of us are level headed and known the expectations of our team. The Keyplay is the BEST site of all the VT sites to check out. Good luck to you guys in Bristol..and if we get stomped like most of you guys are predicting, I will be rooting for you to go all the way! If we somehow put it all together and pull the upset, I hope we don't lay an egg like usual. My realistic prediction is a hard fought, tight game thru 3 quarters before the Vols pull away and win! Vols win 31-21

Welcome brother. VolNation, for the overwhelming most part, is a very welcoming board to other schools' fans who are thoughtful and respectful. Some of our better posters on here are actually Florida fans, go figure. Appreciate your post.

Most of us too are looking for a good hard-fought battle vs your Hokies. Of course we feel confident that we'll win, but I'd guess very few legitimately think it's gonna an easy game to win. Hopefully the game/event matches the hype, brings in the expected 160k+ and both teams get out healthy.....after a Vols win that is 😬.

Again, welcome to incredible fan forum site that Freak has given us.
