13. Pandemonium reigns in the streets of Knoxville as Vols blow 21-0 halftime lead over Bama. Critics site Vols use of the "Mustang" defense the entire 2nd half as the reason for the loss. Game statistics seem to back up the critics as they show Alabama QB, John Parker Wilson, with 31 consecutive completions in the 2nd half with the longest one being 6 yards. When asked what he thought about the criticism, defensive coordinator John Chavis said," Most of these people don't know the first thing about football. They sit in the stands and clap when you are winning and then want to play coach when you lose. These are the same folks that want to call themselves Tennessee fans after booing our team at home a few weeks ago. Real UT fans are with the team through the good times and the bad times. They simply don't understand the X's and O's of football and act like they could do a better job than us if they were coaching. They don't understand that if our corners get beat on the outside, the other team scores. I wonder how many of those fans know the probability of a QB completing enough short passes in a row to drive the field and score a TD? I've done the math and the chances aren't very good from what I can tell. Never mind the fact that several teams in recent memory have dinked and dunked us to death to make a comeback and beat us. We have to play the numbers and the smart way, which is the "Mustang" defense when we get a lead. What do you think these same people would be saying if we blitzed the QB, jammed the receivers at the line, and then got beat for a long TD? They would complain that we were too aggressive. You know, we've been doing this around here for a long time now and we've done a pretty darn good job at it. We didn't just suddenly get stupid and forget how to coach. Most of these yahoo's are probably just jealous of me because they didn't invent the "Mustang" defense and I did. I'll tell you one thing, as long as I'm the "Chief" around here, the "Mustang" will always be king. Viva la Mustang!"
