Pre-Season I Said I'd Be Satisfied With Six Wins...

Agree 100%. If anything they seem to have regressed as opposed to improving. Like many I had a glimmer of hope of 7-8 wins when we looked so good at GA but when the OL gives up 6 sacks to a FCS team from Chattanooga its very very hard to find more than 6

In fact at this point I would be ecstatic with 6 as it will be an uphill battle to get those.

Can't argue with that :hi:

Hey guys! I have been waiting for the appropriate thread to get this off my chest, and I think I finally found it. My daddy and I have lengthy discussions about the upcoming campaign heading into the opening weeks of a new season. We discuss our "realistic" expectations for the season, (going into August, mine were 6-6: winning a big one we aren't supposed to, but dropping one we shouldn't) Without a doubt, I still think that prediction is attainable. I've only recently started posting, but I have been following VolNation for years. There are "NegaVols" who think the world is ending every single Saturday. There are "Sunshine Pumpers" who think we will win even when lined up against the four horsemen of the Apocalypse. In my mind, being a "realist" is a healthy dose of logic, with an extra few dashes of a miracle here and there. Regardless of the outcome tomorrow night, I have faith in this coaching staff and team. I know what we are up against this weekend in Oxford, but I also believe in miracles...
Thanks for posting in my thread and post more often.

I find it pretty funny how most of the negateers stated anyone expecting more then 6 were crazy, and then when the season starts to play out exactly how they predicted. They start with the fire coach krap etc.. it is like they write this stuff but don't believe it themselves, but then when it happens want to act like someone needs to pay for the let down.

And they say the sunshine pumpers are the crazy ones... at least the sunshine pumpers are consistent and not acting like bi-polar crazies who forgot to take their medicine.

Have I offended thee, oh great true VFL?
Don't bother answering as IDGAF.

I can see 5 wins. Means counting Vandy and UK as wins. That leaves Ole Miss, Bama, USCe, and Mizzou. Hmmm...Mizzou at home probably our best shot, with @ USCe being next best.

6 wins, at this point, with this OL, would be a good year. Great maybe.

And that Florida loss is going to be a stain on the offensive staff that will take a while to wash out.

I just can't pick up the KoolAid, or the sunglasses right now. But Lord, how I would love for UT to come out tomorrow, tear Ole Miss a new one, and then spend all day Sunday basking in hundreds of VN posters making me eat my words. Honestly, I'd love that.

Go Vols.

Witch Doctor say this O line will get better..no doubt, but being REAL not Pumping Sunshine, the learning curve of being a starting true Freshman against so far about 7 junior and senior Future NFL D lineman in the SEC is too quick. Witch Doctor say 6 and a bowl game is only realistic.

...and I'm sticking to it.

I realize and admit that my expectations have been affected by a couple of our games causing me to expect more from this team. This has led to my disappointment dictating my hopes and thoughts on the team and this season. So, I'm hitting the reset button so to speak and going back and sticking to my original thoughts of six wins is good for me this year.

Regardless of the outcome of Saturday or next Saturday, as long as six wins remain attainable, I feel we should all remain calm about this season. I know there will be some that disagree and that is fine. This is my own personal way of keeping hope during the season. I wait too damn long every year for football season just to be miserable once it gets here.

Preseason I had my doubts about six. Wish I still didn't have those doubts, but the FL game is still fresh in my mind.

I thought 7-5 or even 8-4 and I'm sticking to it. I also said the defense would be very good, and I'm sticking to it. I also said the O line would be good, not sticking to it.

I'll say as the week has progressed I feel better, was kind of down over the performance in some areas. I feel better about our chances tomorrow, although I still think we are likely not going to win. My view of not likely to win is a good thing maybe, I usually always tend to convince myself we could win a certain game only to be disappointed. Maybe this time I can be proven wrong again and it be beneficial.

All of you hate Bama and Florida the most, no me. I'm 29 from Memphis, and growing up everyone I knew, and still know loves Ole Miss. I had to hear that crap every year even when they typically are at the bottom. So thats one reason this game is one of the most important to me. Ill have to hear about it non stop for the next year.

The second biggest game is South Carolina. I have family from there that I was always close to until a couple years ago after they badly disrespected my wife(then girlfriend). After that they never tried to mend things, so oh well. They LOVE the Cocks! I'm not a huge Facebook user but two years ago when the beat us I happen to see they were going on and on about it.
Last year when Vols won I returned the favor and my avatar here has been my Facebook picture every since . So if anyone's still reading my meaningless post, thats my opinion lol.

And sorry to the person I stole the avatar picture from, I've always meant to change it, might try to do that tonight.

And also I began to like the Vols after traveling to Neyland three years ago with my future wife's family for games. Her parents both graduated from there. I'm hooked and love UT, and started liking them when they were at their worst. I never had a favor team before, just never seemed to like any of the others. So I'm ready for my team to have a winning season. VFL!

If you became a Vol fan while Dooley was the coach, no one has the right to ever question your fandom.

TY, I credit this forum for getting me addicted! I, like many of you was thinking we needed a new coach badly. I started searching topics online about the possibility of new coach. Stumbled across this psych ward and found myself reading all the time. Got into reading up on the recruits and all the Gruden talk.

But I'll say you have much more appreciation and feel a certain tie to the team when you've read about them for so long and know their story. Like North being from North Carolina and how his dad wanted him to go to I believe it was UNC. How Hurd was promoting UT to other recruits, and his general love for this school even before he arrived.

Keep up the good work

Yeah, I will be one of the few here to admit that I got sucked into Grudenmania. You know what though, I met the coolest guys on this site through those BS threads. Plus it helps idgaf what anyone here thinks about me. I think all of us true fans only want to get this trainwreck around and get us back where we belong.

Maybe the "negateers" said 6-6 because they knew the staff sucked. And now they are dissappointed because they see a lot of talent on the field, and realize yeah, the (offensive) coaches really, really do suck. Maybe worse than they even realized.

Also, where is this "fire coach krap" that you speak of? If you search "fire Butch" at the top of this page. All you will get is a bunch of sarcasm and straw man stuff in support of Butch. There aren't any actual posts seriously saying "fire Butch."
