Bored today and watching 90 pigskin classic vs Colorado. Always liked the week early games so called preseason games that counted towards rankings and record. Would be cool to have a few weeks in middle of August for each college team to play a preseason game that did not count against records or rankings. Each team could play it like pros or college spring game to play starters only in 1st half and get experience for backups in second half with clock running. Just a thought but will ever happen?

It would be cool since we all love football and will get out fix just about any way we can, but it will never happen due to the risk of injury.

I'd be for it, but only if the backups were the ones out there playing. That way they get playing time and experience under their belt while there's no risk of injury to the starters of those in the rotation.

Barring changes to the status quo, or someone proving this idea would be incredibly profitable, this will just remain your personal sports fantasy. But since ESPN has so much old game footage to replay during that time? Highly unlikely they will push for it, and right now, having them on board would be key.

Would be cool to see SEC scrimmage ACC. BIG 10 scrimmage BIG 12 and so on. We could scrimmage home and away Clemson, VT and UNC. Other teams like FSU and UF could schedule out of state schools like GT vs UF since they play in regular season. Would be interesting. NCAA basketball plays exhibition and I think baseball might. Why not practice against different defenses and offenses to prepare for season?

The schools would have to be the ones paying the travel costs and such for a game that doesn't count, wouldn't be as watched (might not even be broadcast), and wouldn't remotely be well enough attended to balance.

I am sure Tennesse could do pretty good with 50k-70k at $15-20 at ticket and travel team could get reimbursed with part of that money. I am sure ESPN could help because lot of viewers like watching spring games on their network. Like for it happen but don't see it happening but would be fun and better than watching us scrimmage or do drills against ourselves in August.

"And wouldn't remotely be well enough attended to balance." Yea... That would depend on the school and who they're going up against. Too many hypotheticals to make a definitive statement like that.

I don't believe it'll happen to begin with, but it's pretty cool to think about.

N.O.

We have enough troubles keeping kids healthy before the season. If you are going to extend the season, would be more feasible to go to an 8 team playoff.

A preseason will never ever happen 100% never.

Everyone in football has an exhibition or scrimmage why not ncaa football? Treat it like spring game... non hit jerseys like QB or your suspended for 1-2 games and some other rules for safety to upcoming season.

Yeah, and we really need a 16 game season like the NFL. And a 64 team playoff, yeah thats it!

There was a day college football had junior varsity teams playing. Perhaps NCAA BCS programs could figure out how to revive that for players not starters or even allow red shirts, even to the point your jv squad could not schedule an in conference opponent only??? Lots of options, lots of revenue!! why not??
