Praying here too, my son will turn 16 on September 16 an has been battling leukemia since may 23 last year. The first several months are really tough but it gets better. If your brother needs to talk to someone his age, my son would be happy to talk to him. He has a world of knowledge of the effects of chemotherapy, and their stories are very similar.

My brother (16 years old) had been occasionally complaining for a couple of months about his left shoulder hurting. Yet, he still was able to throw a ball, lift weights, etc. However, yesterday afternoon he was taken to the ER and had X-Rays of his shoulder due to a severe pain.

The doctors immediately sent him to Vanderbilt for further observation and diagnosis. Early this morning my brother was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (Bone Cancer) in his left shoulder. Apparently a tumor had developed in his growth plate, but hopefully has stayed localized and not spread to other parts of his body.

Through blood tests and various other procedures, the tumor has been found to be malignant. Early tomorrow morning, he will be undergoing a biopsy to further confirm this fact which will ultimately decide the procedure to take with treatment.

The shocking nature of this situation has sent us into a frenzy of emotion with troubled hearts. He is a Junior in high school and two weeks away from getting his driver license. He is at the top of his class academically and has excelled at everything he has tried to attempt.

I am asking VolNation for prayers. If you do not believe in a higher power, or prayer for that matter; please send positive thoughts in his direction.

God knows what he is doing. Thanks for your prayers and kind thoughts in advance. I will try to keep this thread updated in the next few days.

Prayers sent. A local Memphis kid about the same age just passed about 6 weeks ago from pancreatic cancer. I pray your brother beats it. If you need anything let me know
