Pray for Grayson Pope (updated 9/19/23)

What an unforgettable night!

At last nights Huskies vs Hoover game, 12 seniors were honored alongside their parents in a truly special ceremony. Those sweet boys presented their mamas with a rose and a baseball handwritten with a personal message, and the dads received a baseball with a heartfelt note as well!

As the game kicked off, the announcer’s voice came over the loud speaker with the starting lineup. When he called out “Grayson Pope” to play left field, my heart nearly exploded with pride and joy. Seeing him stand in the outfield with his brothers during the National Anthem, knowing all he had overcome and achieved, brought an overwhelming sense of happiness and gratitude!

And the excitement didn’t end there. Later in the evening, I heard Grayson’s chosen walk-up song, “Guess Who’s Back,” over the loudspeaker! In that moment, as I was scrambling to get my phone to record, I started reflecting on where we were two years ago. Seeing how far he has come, watching how hard he has worked, words felt completely inadequate to express the depth of my emotions. I truly believe this is just the beginning for him; he’s only going to get better and better!

A BIG thank you to Jeff Mauldin and ALL the coaches who made this AMAZING night one we will never forget. As Grayson so beautifully repeated throughout the night, “To God be the Glory!”

God is great and Grayson living proof that he does exist. Grayson has come a long way since 2 years ago and to have him take the field for senior night was amazing. The Hewitt Trussville community alone is great and I have enjoyed watching their team the times I have been able to attend. Grayson story isn’t done, in fact it’s just beginning as he enters a new chapter of his live.
