Abundance my ***.

There is absolutely no reason to NOT do light stretching/calisthenics before intense physical exertion.

Please don't post garbage like this. I've worked in the orthopedic field for 7 years and this is just lunacy.

Bamacheats is correct..... You are supposed to warm-up, with light cardio for about 10 minutes, mixed with Dynamic Stretching and functional movements........However, if you have an injury that causes tightness, then you can do some light static stretching.....But in general, static stretching is done AFTER hard exercising, not before.......

BTW, I have a Master's in Physical Therapy, and am a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, and I read a ton on current research, which all basically says the same thing......tifwiw

Bamacheats never states or implies static stretching. Simply stretching before any activity is bad. Which is thoroughly incorrect. I never stated that getting out of bed and immediately doing an hour of cold stretching is the correct thing to do, but that isn't the kind of stretching athletes at this level do.

Current research does say that dynamic stretching is effective and beneficial. I have no issues with what you posted, simply the complete lack of specificity and intelligence in Bamacheats post about stretching.

I have an M.S. in PA studies, and an MS in Kiniesiology. And have worked as an Orthopedic PA for 7 years, 3 as Surgical and Rehabilitation coordinator. IF you want to title drop...

You're not an orthopedist. Educate yourself a little before you get offended, you come across as a whiney little sissy that takes his ball and goes home.

I guess Dooley is a lunatic as well since he stated the exact same thing this season.

A) So only Orthopedist's are allowed to have authoritative opinions on musculoskeletal issues? I'll be sure to pass that along to all the Physiologists, PT's, PA's, and Sports Medicine MD's.

B) Dooley is a lawyer...not a medical expert. He's simply passing along the opinion of HIS S&CC.

C) How exactly does disagreeing with your vague, non-specific, and functionally incorrect opinion make me a 'sissy'? Seems like you need to do some growing up.

So now your excuse for being wrong is that my post was "vague"? Lol! Most posters on here are intelligent enough to draw a proper conclusion without having every word spelled out. They can conclude that I was referring to what has been common practice for decades of sitting on the ground touching your toes etc.

You're still coming across as whiney. How in the world can someone get their feelings hurt over stretching? Grow up buddy!

BTW, Dooley knows more about physical fitness than you or I just because of his relationship with his S&C coach.

P.s. You spelled "outdoor" wrong

"DE Ben Martin (Achilles tendon) is out for spring practice after a second Achilles tear, this time to his right leg. Martin, who sat out 2010 after injuring his left leg in August, could be ready to go by the Volunteers’ season opener."

Is this timeline realistic? I thought he would be out at least a year?

I thought it was a given he was out for the year as well. Where did that info come from? It's recent?
