Practice video 4-13!

With the practices being closed, I doubt we are seeing the real action. I do like what I see from Bray but he has quite an akward release. I believe Simms will start mainly due to his leadership and poise. I just hope he can do some of the things he did at the CC. We all know however, at the end of the day its who makes the least mistakes, best decisions and leads us to victory.

GO VOLS!

Bray's release is very smooth for him being so lanky. In fact, talent evaluators and coaches have raved about his release. Most tall, long armed QB's tend to load up and have a long throwing motion. Bray is quick to the ear and has a very quick, snapping release. Of course, he's got some work to do, though.

I, like you, also think that Simms will start for the very reasons you mentioned. Having a guy that the team really rallies behind can make all the difference.

How does Dooley intend to be a power running/smashmouth football team if practices are like this. I'm not a Dooley hater or anything, but seriously, I've seen Pop Warner practices tougher than this.

Fulmer's practices were more intense than that crap.

If his practices are like this in August, then we might have a problem. For spring ball, however, I don't have much issue with a laid back practice. The main priority in spring ball is to install the basics of your offense and defense.

Those are the highlights? They're just going through the motions as far as I can tell.

Am I missing something?

The QB with the best looking throw...IMO...is the one closest to the camera at the end of the video....that looks like #2 to me....isn't that Simms?

This is what I got from it.

Seems like he just letting the media get a taste so they will stay out of his hair.

It isn't smart to always go 'tough', or full speed. When you are installing new offense and defense, it pays to just get them reps. It's about knowing what formation to be in, where to be now, where to go... Give them some slack and let them install their offensive and defensive schemes, guys. You don't want them trying to tear each others' heads off when they are still trying to learn placements, reads, etc...

These are just clips, it's hard to make a judgement not seeing everything they do during the complete practices. Some of it did look a little "laid back" but we're only seeing bits and pieces. I seen some decent hard hits in there as well...

I'm not sure....but if this is the case, then Simms was the one making all these great throws, and I think that one of the ones that Bray was shown throwing skid along the ground. Maybe Simms is the one we're drooling over.

I just watched it again...and all of the good throws are Simms. Bray was hardly in the video

If the basics of your offense is to pound the ball, how do you expect our guys to get a push. This is freakin' football, not patty cake.

Because, spring practice, no matter what you run, is generally a laid back fare.

July and August are usually the months that you start beating the **** out of everyone.

Two things...

1. This is clearly a "half speed" session for them...there's no way this is the norm for a full speed practice

2. At the end of the video Simms is the QB closest to the camera....it's hard to judge the passes coming out because at that angle the QB's throws look like they are right on top of each other....With that being said...if you pay close attention (I mean rewind and pause if you have to) you can tell that the sharpest throws are coming from Simms

I had to rewind and pause several times because I couldn't tell who was throwing those "bullet" throws...but I'm pretty sure its Simms...not Bray

Are we really talking bout practice? Its practice man, practice. I cannot believe we are talking bout practice. Practice man, practice. Its just practice

I'll disagree. The nose of the football is pointing toward the ground ala Casey and Rick Clausen which makes me sick. At least Casey knew where to go with the ball. Simms = 5 yard dump passes.

The bullet throws were from Bray, no doubt.

Simms has no business starting at UT.

Do you agreee that Simms is the one closest to the camera?

The last throw is the key...there is a delay between the two QB's throws...
so you can tell which throw came from which QB

You can tell there that Simms is the one throwing the sharp passes

Why did Bray change from 18?

18 is retired at Tennessee (Bill Majors). Not even a QB named Manning was allowed to wear that number (which happened to also be his Dad's number). That is why Manning wore 16 at UT and 18 with the Colts.

You can play it however you want, the beginning of the video clearly shows duck passes from Simms on slant patterns.

Simms is a two bit hasbend like Rick Clausen.

:eek:k:

I tend to agree that Bray is and will always be the better QB. I just cringe when I think of the hits he would take if he steps behind center this year.

Yeah...and it makes perfect sense to come to that conclusion based on a couple of bad throws during a half speed practice session

And I'm not playing anything any sort of way...I'm just saying that I saw sharper throws coming from one QB...and IMO it wasn't Bray
