Practice Updates?

I haven't heard anything about Martin's injury. Anybody got details other than aircast?

The fact that he's out there practicing tells me it's nothing serious. He did something at the end of spring, nothing major. He could've done something else, though.

I have been holding out hope that Stevens will beat out the Mtn worm burner and it looks like its going to happen.

Not surprised that Crompton stinks.

And it is a big deal.

He threw with these receivers all summer long.

And then he had another break. Believe it or not even Div 1 QBs get some rust. This is the first practice back. Everyone calm down. If Cromp is still doing poorly at the end of fall practice feel free to go batcrap crazy.

Stop scaring all the children Rex

keep telling yourself that

I will....because its the FIRST DAMN PRACTICE. Throwing routes in the summer with noone guarding the person you are throwing to is much different than in a 11 on 11 or even 7 on 7 situation with a pass rush, even without pads. I am not saying JC wont stink this year.....what I am saying is that you sky-is-falling types that have never strapped on the pads, judging a player after ONE damn helmet and short practice, the first one of the year even....are pretty ignorant. He very well may look even worse than last year, but not even the coaches can judge that at this point.

I hope Stephens starts this year bc Crompton is a dud. His mentality is totally shot. No way this guy can go in and win an SEC game for you. Sorry I think he has the physical tools but his mind is not where it needs to be

More than a few people on here believe the only reason Stephens didn't finish as the starter last year was based on some kind of "incident" that got him sat down. I think there are lots of people that didn't expect Crompton to hold onto the starting job through camp and even fewer that he would still be starting by seasons end.

You don't have to be beating up on a kid to say he just doesn't look like he's an SEC QB. If it's the truth...

Nonsense. He beat UK...

Seriously, I'm not pushing the panic button over one bad practice. If he's still sucking come September, then I'll consider being worried.

Based on your prediction, before the first fall practice is even over, one of two conclusions can be reached: 1) you already know more than the staff does (not a chance) 2) your a moron and likely one of the idiots who made death threats against JC last year. Fact is I have no idea nor does anyone else who the QB will be at this point in time. I want the guy that gives us the best chance to win games and the staff will too. Either support that decision or find another team jerk !

One practice and you folks are shredding players and now each other. some of you folks are freaking nuts !!!!!! The only people who keep score during practice are the coaches.......It is a very good staff, have a little faith they will a very good job.

Every player on the team is going to have a bad practice and probably more than one. The important thing is how consistent from day to day someone is.

All it took was Crompton having a below average practice for some people to already name Stephens the starter and start bashing Crompton. DAY 1!

Why is it so hard for some of you to realize positions aren't going to affected by one practice but instead the body of work? Why must some of you degrade Crompton for every mistake he makes? Will it hurt your feelings if he starts WKU?

Some of you guys that say you are "fans" disgust me.

Four Vols got work returning punts, including three newcomers. Teague, Rogers, and Richardson joined Gerald Jones during special teams drills.

I trust that CLK will make the right decisions....I am also just excited that practice has begun! Sounds like Nukeese is the real deal!

Got to love this:

At one point, with Crompton under center, the coaches halted a play and Kiffin exclaimed, "Can we get somebody back there who knows our cadence?"

Juco transfer Nick Lamaison looked sharp -- he's got a strong arm and generally put the ball where it needed to be, though his spiral was wobbly at times.

so does anyone think that LaMaison might actually have a shot at the starting spot? Apparently he looked good. I guess time will tell.

Getting to this point, in shape means a lot. It is time to get after it. Can't have guys dragging around cause they can't catch a breathe.
