Practice Updates 9.6.16

if you had a clue..you would still be lost.

How does someone sand bag to the point his qb fumbles in the end zone during overtime and the only reason we win is because Hurd is damn lucky to have fallen on it?

I want to believe u but holy crap that is living on the edge if true.

Maybe he means the middle of the Oline had sandbags in the back of their undyz that kept making them fall on their arse! Maybe a few other players had sandbags in their shoes.

Just wait till they remove those sandbags for Saturday!

Because we should be able to line up, play vanilla, and still knock the **** out of them just from the HUGE talent difference between the two teams. Instead we got out coached, out hustled, and out played. It was completely unacceptable.

True Cat. I've been so incredulous about it because I honestly didn't think this team would even be capable of playing that poorly. Even our special teams was uncharacteristically bad. Doug Mathews brought this up Sunday....we dropped a punt, got called for a targeting penalty, allowed a 45 yd return, had no net yards on 3 punt returns and had 2 penalties for 25 yards on special teams. It was bad.

So it's the staff's fault that Dobbs misses receivers? That's your argument? Its the staff's fault that Dobbs misses check downs?

As a leader if you see a problem but are reluctant to fix it then that problem is now your fault. If you cannot fix the problem then you must replace what is broken, either the person causing the problem or yourself.

What do you mean Butch sandbagged the game purposely? Any coach that would do something like that needs to be shown the door. Please elaborate.

My concern is Butch is intent on red shirting Jack Jones come hell or high water as well as not being willing to shake up the middle/right side of that line (Weisman at C, Jack Jones RG). If this staff is going to be so stubborn after watching last week's performance, then Butch deserves heavy criticism if this line doesn't perform this coming week. And this coaching staff will prove again it can't get out of its own way. A loss to VA Tech and that four game stretch from late Sept thru mid Oct is not going to be fun.

Dobbs is gonna be fine. Adrenaline over takes pain, and so do the shots (injections)

I do agree with this... this is his senior year and unless he simply cannot throw the ball, they will have to drag him off the field... the only thing that worries me is if they actually let him run, how much will he want to and will he pull up short in order not to get hit where his injury is?

easy bro, I have been saying the same thing and wondering how we are just going to magically "turn on the offense" and have been getting straight trashed on here... We have the talent, the coaches just need to show/prove they know how to use it and put the talent in the right places to make plays and put points on the board... which we didn't see last week.

If Butch is willing to lose a game by not putting in the best players because he wants to save them for next season, the guy is an idiot... you play the game to win and if you are that worried, go recruit a kid as good or better than Jack Jones and have him ready to compete in two years...

From the videos, it looked more less like the QBs were practicing handoffs, and more like they were giving multiple guys reps at center.

That's my point, none of those positions have been developed with this staff. They come in and hardly ever get better overtime. Mahoney hasn't developed one solid OL since he's been here. CZA hasn't developed one WR. Gillespie has developed the RBs but that's it.

If you couldn't see an improvement between 2014's O-line and last years, then I can't help you. And if you are already condemning this year's O-line off of one game then it is pointless to even discuss this.

It was one bad game. We have seen this exact team play well enough to beat anybody in the country. Do you honestly think that losing Pearson, Kerbyson, Mcneil, Randolph, and Williams is the reason we played bad last Saturday? No. It was just a bad game. The game plan was Vanilla and by the time the team realized they would need to turn on the gas to win the game, Tennessee was behind 13-3. App St. is a good team, so once they believed they could win it made it that much harder for Tennessee to swing momentum back. My point is, Relax, we know this team can play with anybody. They just had one bad game.
