Patrick Brown:
From practice: Jason Croom was practicing, while Preston Williams, Josh Smith and Jauan Jennings were in green.

Josh Dobbs looked normal running & throwing in practice. Probably won't know how close to 100% he is until he takes a hit Saturday night.

Rucker:
#Vols QB Joshua Dobbs was sprinting and throwing today in practice. Not sure he’s 100%, not sure how he’d take a hit, but he looks OK IMO.

Rhiannon Potkey:
Just got out of UT's practice. Wearing green jerseys were: Preston Williams, Jalen Hurd, Josh Smith, Austin Smith and Jauan Jennings.

Tennessee TE Jason Croom was practicing today. Croom missed the App State game with a hip injury.

On the offensive line, we didn't get to see any 11 on 11 work, but the focus was on leverage, finishing and correcting obvious technique and assignment issues.

When the Vols hit the five man sled they did with the starting five from last Thursday night. Now that doesn't mean anything as the competition is on going there. Coleman Thomas didn't have any kind of heavy wrap on his ankle.

Kyle Phillips did seem be nursing his right ankle as it was pretty heavily taped. Phillips didn't play Thursday night.
Finally, if there was any doubt left on Dobbs he was out there on the practice field today.
Hubbs

Four offensive players were in green during Tuesday afternoon's practice, Preston Williams, who didn't really do much in the time we saw, Jauan Jennings, Jalen Hurd and Josh Smith. Defensive end Austin Smith was in his usual green jersey as well.

The emphasis early on was on special teams as the Vols worked some punt and kickoff return drills. Obviously, even with Beamer not at Tech any more, it's still a program with a rich special teams history.

Shy Tuttle was working in the normal drills with the defensive line, as was Alexis Johnson.
Fort

Green jerseys:
Jalen Hurd, Josh Smith, Jauan Jennings, Austin Smith, Preston Williams it appeared.

QBs always are in red, non-contact jerseys.

As for Josh Dobbs, we saw him do extremely little and no photo or video was allowed beyond the very base warm-up drills of taking snaps and practicing tosses. Dobbs threw the ball in a very limited manner while we looked on. I'm not saying he was very limited in his throwing, but we were limited in seeing him throw very often. Quinten Dormady and Jarrett Guarantano got plenty of reps.

Sheriron Jones, too, and Jones was the man at the helm for the scout team as soon as team periods opened up. As one would expect, tons of special teams work ---- especially coverage-wise.

Still think Coleman Thomas is a bit hobbled by his ankle injury but there did some to be some good intensity from the OL in early drills. Boulware and Jack Jones were active. Dylan Wiesman keeps leading.

Looks like same defensive starters though Jonathan Kongbo is pushing strong at an end spot opposite Derek Barnett, and Kongbo had a freakishly nifty swim move inside today to get past a would-be blocker as media was being escorted off the field.

Media room observations:

-We got to see 3 periods, only 1st period allowed to film/photograph

-QBs didn't do any passing while we were there. Just practiced snaps and handoff motions

-I got to watch the offensive linemen for most of the last period. Mahoney is working them hard and had them driving the sleds. They looked pissed today so maybe it can translate this weekend.

-Overheard Kirkland talking to Maybin. Said he "wasn't trying to get ejected." Maybin said "join the club." Thought it was kinda funny.

-Kongbo still has his stripe

That's about all I got from today. Butch kept it under wraps from us.

What are your thoughts on the O-line? Was chance hall that big of a loss, or was it going to be like that anyway? Or maybe it was just an complete off game?

It's a very good chance that Hall would be at right tackle and Kendrick at left if he hadn't of gotten injured.

So Hurd still not getting hit in practice, sounds like they're getting backup Quarterbacks ready to play so obviously Dobbs is definitely a little sore

What happened to Preston Williams in the App State game? He seemed fine to me even though he caught less throws the 2nd half. Is it his ankle or knee or what? It's not even mentioned what body part is dinged up. Thanks!

Qbs didn't throw, only practiced handoffs? Sounds about right. 😬

I hope the O-Line (and ESPECIALLY a certain "Cooler English Muffin") were puking ALL over themselves today from having to run and push sleds...NO DAYS OFF for the O-Line!
