weight distribution. lower center of gravity. and training. RBs are taught to block, LBs are taught to shed blocks. COL is more blocking than shedding blocks. its not even tackling. RBs are expected to go up against DEs and LBs and block, LBs are expected to go AROUND blocks.

You're way overthinking this imo. We'll just agree to disagree.

The best thing that can happen in practice is..........MISTAKES. The key is........... do they REPEAT THEM OR LEARN FROM THEM. If you always look good in practice you aint practicing the right stuff!

I understand what your saying, but I don't fully agree

This is one of those 15% where you and I will disagree KB. A MLB can should get his hands on an RB no matter size, but this drill is strictly about push and leverage, not tackling or slamming somebody on the ground. Bowling ball short type RBs can and should win that leverage battle every time against the taller mid 200 lb MLB. The RB in this case cannot nor should win that battler against a 300 lb plus DT though.
These things happen occasionally though. Bowling ball style rbs can be a pain for defenders.

I'll give it a shot..

Assuming just because DKjr is physically bigger he will always win a COL battle with Kelly is silly.

You do realize that 6'1" 230 compared to 5'9" 212 does not necessarily mean DKjr is stronger, right? Also, I will bet Kelly is every bit as athletic, if not more, than DKjr..

Strength, quickness, athleticism, Kelly's attitude will win him his share of the COL battles..

Surely you've watched enough football to understand this can actually happen.

What time did the scrimmage start today? I figured Fingers would have us some updates by now or here soon. I guess it depends on when the scrimmage started. Was it 3 PM EST? Thanks. Edit: Here's a couple photos from today's practice/scrimmage:

So writing it off to a single, fluke rep is overthinking it? Alrighty then.

No, questioning it at all is over thinking it. Going on about it for 5-6 pages is obsessing about nothing.

One rep KB, nothing more, nothing less. Repeating, "smallish RB, should never happen, fluke" over and over is severely over thinking it imo.

Either way im not gonna contribute no more to dragging it out any further than what i now have but its just football. It dont go according to script brutha.

Have a nice day. Go Vols!

The ONLY reason I've said it more than once is because of the 3-4 posters who wanna argue and evidently use quantum physics as a way to explain it. It was a quick, throwaway observation, nothing more, nothing less.

My original post was that I found it somewhat concerning that a smallish RB could essentially punk our middle linebacker and then said I wrote it off as a fluke rep that hopefully wouldn't happen again, figured that'd be it and I wouldn't mention it again.

But of course, all the einsteins had to question if I'd ever played before, throw the condescending insults around and then proceed to "explain" it to me. Lol. Whatever, I stand by my original thought, and that's that.

Several web sites saying "someone saw" Kongbo being carried off the field yesterday. No details and no media confirmation.
Coach Doug Mathews did not mention it this morning.

You're still wrong.
