I would rather an (ala 2004) QB rotation to start the season. Find out who is better and by time the Florida game gets here we know who the QB will be leading the team. JMO

I would really hate to start one who turns out to be a dud and the other transfer and turn out to be a stud.

I cant wait to see these QBs in game action. Every time Dobbs dropped back it was either something really good was going to happen, something really bad, or nothing. No in between

Yes, we should wait to give the better QB, in the scenario above, no starts until SEC play begins. Great plan.

Not my plan, jumpy. I'm JG all the way, actually. Was just pointing out that it's a tough political move for Butch either way.

We won't have a backup QB if JG starts day one, bc QD will leave. Will McBride is already a better option than S. Jones from some reports.

So since you're such a genius, I suppose there's nothing wrong with having Freshman Will McBride one play away as our QB?

Fingers FTW. Forgive the spelling cause I've been hitting the damn single barrel, but seems like even though this season will be 1000% about the O line (and it will) there are two names that should take over this season in natural progression. Buchanan and Calloway. They will either stop scores or make scores.

Regardless, if one transfers he'll be all world wherever he goes, guaranteed.

I keep reading this s crap about JG should start immediately blah blah blah. What most don't consider is the mental part of the game. He is a kid. He can have all the tools but that doesn't mean he us ready to be an SEC QB. The film room will tell everything. And I am almost positive that QD has a major advantage in that area with over a year in the system.

Neither QB has played one meaningful down in SEC play. I think they've both earned that opportunity. QD has put in the time and he deserves a shot. JG looks like he has all the tools, but let's cool it until we see more. Nobody is going to transfer until the season is over as long as they both have the opportunity to play. No need to rush it, settle it on the field.

Go Vols

This offense ain't rocket science. It ain't the 90s with #16 barking out 3 audibles at the line. It is more read and react and we do know no matter how much Butch claims it works with a Pro style QB, a DT QB is the bees knees in this offense.

Are you insinuating that Dormady isn't mobile enough to run this offense?

Oh I'm sure he can run it. Can you run windows on 1gb of ram and a single CPU, sure you can.

Do you want a QB that can stress a defense horizontally and vertically with his arm and legs or a QB that can stress vertically and might be able to keep the ends and linebackers honest on read plays some of the time?

No clue what that means, but it sounds like I agree :)
