Practice Updates 10.25

Byrd has all you need to be a PR guy. I think we just want to wait until next season to allow him to take over that roll.

That has be to be it because his stats as a high school return man has you scratching your head as to why we've not tried him yet. Thanks!

I agree. I'm just trusting the guy that makes millions to put us in a position to succeed. FTR Byrd is my return specialist on EA NCAA FOOTBALL. Has been for 7 weeks now. I get what everyone is saying, but there's a reason he's not there yet. Emphasis on YET.

Unfortunately, I got a feeling that Butchna is right in that it's likely the same reason why the coaches were slow (and stubborn) to put Berry back returning kicks a couple years ago ahead of Devrin Young.

Byrd may not be comfortable doing it. I'm sure he did in high school but I've heard punters are better in college. I'd say the coaches probably want to use him there and he might not be comfortable doing so. Completely different sports but in basketball I was not comfortable setting the screen and rolling to the basket and getting the ball that way. I preferred a pick and pop style, I worked on the screen and roll and by the time I was a junior and senior I was much more comfortable doing it, so we used it. Just my two cents. Just has to keep practicing and getting comfortable with it.

Only one way to find out.

Byrd doesn't have any drops so far. Not one.

Fielding a punt and catching a pass are similar.

I have no doubt Byrd is a good PR.
He's a pure football player.

Now that we're in the JV part of our schedule, I agree that now is the time to give it a shot.

Best way to find out is when we're up by 3 scores. We should have been able to test these theories against App State and Ohio but the team wasn't focused early on and the coaches didn't call aggressive games. Hopefully they've learned a valuable lesson for next year

The answer is simple about using Byrd as a PR guy. He did it all through high school & his stats are astounding at it. It's an easy choice if you ask me unless CBJ don't want to take a chance of getting him injured.

I want to see Byrd, but the truth is, we had two of the best Punt Returners in the conference on our team

Two! Okay. And both end up getting injured. That's just insane. And quite frankly not fair. Not fair at all.
