Letter from Coach Kiffin to UT Fans

March 10, 2009

Dear Tennessee family,

I hope this note finds you well and excited about the future of Tennessee Football.

As we kick-off our first spring practice with the Tennessee family, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the opportunity you have given us. Tennessee has a storied tradition of great players and great teams. Our staff will do everything in our power to continue the great tradition and foundation that was built before us. We are very excited about the opportunity we have here, and we hope you are too.

I want our fans to be an active part of the program. Your energy and enthusiasm are two of the things that make Tennessee great. That being said, I hope you will join us for our first practice in pads on Friday, March 13th in Neyland Stadium at 7 p.m. This will give you a chance to come see what's in store for Tennessee football. Due to construction, we will cap admittance at 10,000 fans. You can enter from gates 1, 2 or 3.

There are several events on campus Friday, including our SEC baseball opener at Lindsey Nelson at 7 p.m. and an event at the arena, so all parking on campus will be paid. The most convenient parking will be in the G-10 garage or 11th Street garage and come around the back of the hill.

I also want to encourage you to come out for the Orange and White Game on April 18th at 3 p.m. Because of stadium improvements currently underway, space will be limited for the Orange and White game so I encourage you to order online at utsports.com today.

I hope to see you in Neyland soon!

Go Vols!

CLK said he was pleased with todays practice. Liked the weather being bad.
"To come out in Day 2 and have bad weather like that was really good to see after having good weather the first day," Kiffin offered. "I thought our guys responded well. No one sat around and worried about the weather."

Specifically, Kiffin said that his two signal-callers have played the first two practices with no fear.

"They have had great composure. They are not in pads obviously, but still there is a lot of stuff being thrown at them. A lot of plays, a new offense, a very aggressive defense over there that has great defensive ends who are rushing really well right now. To see them relax in there and do some things. They hit a lot of big plays in 7-on-7 work and in team work and guys are making plays down the field for them."

This has to make you feel good. Especially after hearing CLK asking for patience for the qb's as they learned the new offense.

The few clips of Crompton throwing today looked a lot better than the clips from tuesday. I know there is a whole lot we don't see, but at least what they showed was decent.
