Practice on Christmas??

How big a deal is this really? If we lose the bowl game everyone would be saying the team should have practiced on Christmas. If we win the game everybody will have forgotten they practiced on Christmas.

Absolutely NOBODY is gonna say the team should've practiced on Christmas Day whether they win, lose or draw.

I know because we are talking about 17 yr old individuals here. I'm sure most of the kids still believe in Santa.

Who cares that (some made up high percentage) does not even live close enough to their family. They can just pal up with a team member and go the the Christmas they have. Christmas is the same everywhere I assume.

Any head coach wants to control all variables he can; leave it up to college players to responsibility/timely make their way after days off? SMH

from players viewpoint....any time off campus is fun, no matter size of hometown or family, these players are "big time" and relish that time off to live in that adoring spotlight.

can't help but have some sense of entitlement as a DIV I scholarship players.....make them practice on Christmas Day...heresy!!!!

Good for Jones to keep the focus/discipline in place. IT IS HIS WAY (and I mean Jones not the guy above)

Dimarya Mixon also tweeted something about how they were getting to the bowl game. His tweet.."so we couldnt just fly to the bowl like almost every other team or is it just me"

So are we taking buses or something?

Didnt John Ward drive to every game, never fly? Maybe we should all take a lesson...

Playing on New Year's Day is one thing, but I've always thought that the NCAA should respect Thanksgiving and Christmas. Same goes for as much government and private business as possible. jmo

Most bowls require the team to be there six days ahead of the game, so they have to be in Tampa tomorrow morning regardless. If they were traveling on their own, they'd still be leaving on Christmas.

Whatever. If you're mad about this, you're looking for something to be mad about.

I'm not mad. I just think it's a little bit overdoing it 12 games into the season to practice on Christmas Day.

So I figured Butch was just trying to imitate Nick Saban but no, Bama did not practice yesterday, they chartered a flight but had had players flying in to meet team today in Dallas. Bama also plays a day earlier than Tennessee.

You seem to know an awful lot about the goings on of that red team to the south.

I'd practice every Christmas for the rest of my life, if it meant that I had the ability and opportunity to do what these guys are doing right now

Sorry but his often used statement is a bunch of crap. It ranks right up there with..... Id give my left nut to blah, blah, blah. Again, JMO.

Well, considering it's my fn statement, it really doesn't matter what your opinion is of what I would do. I stand by my statement wholeheartedly, and who are you to tell me that I don't? You don't know me from Adam.

Besides, I already gave my left nut to make sweet, sweet love to Kate Upton. And my soul I sold for a larger unit but forgot to read the fine print. So, now I'm stuck with wearing this truss for the rest of my life.

Always read the fine print.

I think Mixon's complaint is that the team is flying from Knoxville together which is probably part of the reason they had practice today. A person tweeted him asking how the team was getting there and he replied with emoticons of planes. I would be shocked if they were taking buses.

If they lose they have to take buses home. I think that's the rule for most teams.

Do you volnation?

For 3 years now. And I just don't think anybody is relating anything that happens in the bowl game, good or bad, to whether or not the team practiced on Christmas Day. And if we win, which I fully expect, I don't think anybody is gonna say "well, thank God we practiced on on Christmas". Just don't see it. Jmo.
