your lives do not fail if the orange swarm fails. The orange swarm fails without you. The power of the these young men will become clear when this fan base stands with them and behind them and they feel the belief you have in them. They are tennessee, you are tennessee. Start believing in yourselves.

amen!!

I didn't want to start a new thread, but I know in the past there have been a sticky of the newcomers and what number they are. Can someone make this happen again? TIA

CBH said he wanted to rotate 10 guys up front. The long way to go comment may just be coach speak but who are the 10 guys? (Let's assume for now that Shy redshirts). He's looking for some new guys to augment the usual suspects. With the new guys he's only looking for them to play around 15 snaps/game so that he can keep the core of the group fresh and healthy. Paul Bain time? :)

Not in any order

1. Kongbo
2. Taylor
3. Phillips
4. Vickers
5. McKenzie
6. A. Johnson
7. Picou
8. ?? (~15 snaps/game)
9. ?? (~15 snaps/game)
10. ?? (~15 snaps/game)

Butler will be in that mix. I'm still hopeful for Tuttle. Butch said in an interview the other day that he was "a little ahead of schedule."

The last one may be Kivon.

Bandwagon fan? Kind of easy to have faith after the fact, no? :hi:

Bandwagon? I have been on this wagon for over 30 years. It is called "not expecting the ultimate goal of competing for NCs to become my expectations until it is realistic."

I am not sure you really know what a bandwagon fan is.

And even those 3, who are very physically talented, are completely unproven as SEC DEs. Gotta hope they play to their potential and that one or two of the younger guys are ready to play and provide quality reps.

The defensive ends will be better this year than last year. Kongbo and Taylor are upgrades over Barnett and Vereen. They are more gifted physically and have better upside. Barnett and Vereen were very much overachievers. Kongbo and Taylor have more potential. I also like the depth Phillips, Johnson, and Butler provide.

I'm very optimistic about the DEs this year.

Another note. If they hold Tuttle out until UF he still has over a month of recovery and training.

But, two posters on TOS, are saying that Coach Doug Mathews stated he still thinks Tuttle red shirts.
Really, really Hope that is wrong.
Anybody heard anything on the inside on Shy?

No inside stuff, but the guy is not even in a green jersey right now,and Butch said he's ahead of schedule. I think he'll be fine, doubt he plays vs GT but he might get his feet wet against Indiana state.

I feel like we have more depth than last year so maybe that is where my optimism is from

I was just looking over the Vols roster at utsports.com, this is certainly Butch's deepest team. Especially at WR, OL, and DL. RB being the exception, other than that this may be deepest team UT has fielded in 10 years.

I'm not going to start a new thread but what is more important to everyone here on Volnation?
Winning the SEC East or a New Years Bowl?

Sec east. If you win the east, you have a chance to win the sec. If you win the sec, you are likely in the playoff. If you are in the playoff...

I am very excited to see these Vols get to work making us proud to be a Tennessean this year!!!!!!
I honestly think that they will be right there in the mix to win the East!! And also with a little bit of good fortune even the possibility of upsetting mighty Alabubba! Any thing can happen with good coaching and good talent with some really fortunate bounces of the old pigskin!
I just believe that they will be a very good team!

And if they don't win the East this year but are very competitive! It will still be great!
I am not saying losing is ok, but this is supposed to be a down year and yet I will be surprised if the record isn't as good as last year. GBO!!!!!((

Thought it was interesting that #5 Josh Palmer juggled a ball at his right shoulder during the Jugs session, and later there was the same exact thing on the pass along the sideline. He might be taking his eye off the ball just a fraction early. Yet he caught that deep fly route without a single bobble.

Devante Brooks looks a lot bigger than I thought he would. Roster says 282 but he looks bigger.

The QB/ WR timing is looking really good at this point. With only 7 practices in, that's a very encouraging sign.

I'm not putting much on Hoke's coach speak. His answers point to his pleasure in the improvement he's seeing. I expect the line will be much improved.

While I like what I'm seeing in practices, I'm not about to let my expectations get unrealistic. I'm still at 8-4 and possibly 9-3 with some good breaks. If we get injuries in key positions, then the record with suffer. I still believe this is a very talented team and anything is possible.

Yeah I get it. I see where your yellow brick road leads to.
