VQ Highlights https://player.vimeo.com/video/228585075

Both Quinten Dormady and Jarrett Guarantano were pretty sharp, with notable great throws to Brandon Johnson, LaTrell Williams and Marquez Callaway. Later, they worked on quick slants and other short routes, with Butch Jones saying, “Define your route.” After a sloppy period Friday, the entire QB/WR unit was much better Sunday, as only a few balls hit the turf.

Matthew Butler, who has seen work at tackle and end, spent the entire individual period with the defensive ends today.

The kickoff return rotation was the same as the last week: Evan Berry, Tyler Byrd, Ty Chandler and Nigel Warrior. Byrd was the only player to muff a return during the period.
During KO coverage work, Jauan Jennings, Princeton Fant and Todd Kelly Jr. rotated to see who could make one-handed catches from the JUGGs machine. None were successful, so John Kelly spent most of the time just making fun of the trio.

Jashon Robertson continued to take ownership of the OL on Sunday, giving Ryan Johnson an earful after one rep. During the QB/C exchange, Dormady worked with Coleman Thomas, Guarantano worked with Devante Brooks and McBride with Robertson.

Jauan Jennings, Theo Jackson, Emmanuel Moseley, Josh Smith, and Marquez Callaway all put in work at punt returner today
Both Emmanuel Moseley and Quart’e Sapp continue to wear green, non-contact jerseys during fall camp.

y Chandler still has some work to do if he wants to be the main backup behind John Kelly. Both Kelly and Carlin Fils-Aime appear to have a leg up on Chandler right now, but Chandler is still only a freshman. He has time to learn and grow.

I’ve continued to be impressed by the progression of the wide receivers. Freshman Josh Palmer continues to look like a natural on the field with his raw talent, and Latrell Williams is starting to show he can be more than just a fast runner.

Austin Pope has some solid hands. He needs to add some weight to his tall frame still, but his talent is apparent as a pass catcher.

saw a little bit more of the freshmen, including Ty Chandler. He’s definitely the fastest of the group, but will still need to add a little more size. Chandler, Jordan and Coleman all showed good strength in pass blocking drills.

Tyler Byrd made an athletic, high jumping catch on a crossing route. Marquez Callaway and Brandon Johnson are looking more and more like pure receivers each day. Latrell Williams put his speed on display during some deep throws and was catching balls in stride. I think he’s a guy that’s going to be a threat this year if the QB play is good enough. If they can’t manage to pass him the ball, then they need to hand it off to him or something because he’s just too fast and athletic to keep off the field. Freshmen Jacquez Jones, Josh Palmer and Princeton Fant also made some nice catches.

I’m not exactly sure what all the rumors are surrounding Jack Jones, but he was practicing and even drawing praise from O-line coach Walt Wells. Drew Richmond is expected to play left tackle again and was showing good strength in one-on-one blocking drills. On the defensive line, Shy Tuttle was getting some good reps, as well as Khalil McKenzie. Brady Hoke is going to rely on those guys heavily to stay healthy and contribute.

Quarterbacks Quinten Dormady and Jarrett Guarantano were free to let it loose during routes on air on Sunday, and they served reminders as to their impressive arm talent.

Both quarterbacks were flawless with their accuracy on some deep 30-yard-plus routes to multiple receivers, and the only time a football hit the grass was when Marquez Callaway narrowly missed a diving catch on a throw from Dormady. Guarantano dropped a pair of dimes to Brandon Johnson and then Latrell Williams. Dormady was on the money to Jauan Jennings.

And if you're wondering about freshman Will McBride's arm strength, well, he followed the two dueling quarterbacks and dropped in a dime of his own to his receiver in perfect stride.

Jones and offensive coordinator Larry Scott were fired up after one set of simultaneous (really) deep throws from Dormady and Guarantano were placed perfectly at the same time.

Everything in that rep — from the receiver routes and breaks to the placement of the throws and then in-stride catches — was in perfect rhythm, and Jones and Scott told the players they wanted every rep to look that good.

Freshman Jacquez Jones improved drastically from the beginning of the period to the end of the period, though, and Butch Jones and Beard both congratulated him for it.

Tennessee’s offensive line again gave a few younger players more work than usual during the periods that were open to media, with redshirt freshmen Ryan Johnson and Devante Brooks rotating in frequently during individual drills.

Senior Jashon Robertson, redshirt sophomore Drew Richmond, junior Jack Jones, senior Coleman Thomas and redshirt sophomore Venzell Boulware again led the group of veterans working on the offensive line.

Middle linebackers Darrin Kirkland Jr. and Daniel Bituli again were full participants at least during the open period of practice.

Defensive tackle Shy Tuttle dressed out for practice and remained very limited during the open period of practice.

Cornerback Emmanuel Moseley and linebacker Quart'e Sapp remain in green non-contact jerseys.

Aside from Wolf's drop in a high ball, WR is looking good. Byrd was looking real solid in his few reps that were shown. I'm brand new to posting, been lurking all summer but I'm thankful for Fingers to get these reports!

I agree, we're looking much better than I expected on the offensive side.

Good to officially see this put to rest too.

These practice reports are like a needle in my arm man. Haha. I can't get enough of them.

its blown my mind how he was overshadowed by freshmen as best chance at backup RB in preseason by "fans". CFA got a bad rap from very limited opportunities last season along with one very badly timed exchange on his first play of last season. given the situation and what else was going on that game the fumble he had was a team fumble not one he should be blamed for. Everyone on the team last year mailed it in on SC and Vandy last year. Well at least the defense mailed it in against vandy... then again they were so hurt up the middle they ere likely out of spit to lick a stamp that game.

Last year with a healthy D-line kongbo lining up at DT in passing situations could have been drastic. but he was forced to actually play the position legit last year on running downs and that sucks for the kid. he had what 2-3 years of total football experience last year given that his contributions so far are commendable at least.

But, two posters on TOS, are saying that Coach Doug Mathews stated he still thinks Tuttle red shirts.
Really, really Hope that is wrong.
Anybody heard anything on the inside on Shy?

I want to make sure that everyone watching these videos and reading these posts realizes.... we have a team that can win 10 this year, but stop for a second and think about the next two years. We are on the edge of having a championship caliber team in Tennessee.

Thanks fingers.
