Damn....El Berry just ragdolled young Eli. We're so deep in terms of talent at linebacker it's utterly ridiculous.

Losing Marcus Jackson would be tough to handle. The potential upside is he could be a candidate for a medical redshirt and come back next season, right? I know he redshirted once before but does a player have to miss parts of two seasons with injury rather than redshirt one year and miss the senior year due to injury?
If Jackson is out, the shuffling of the positions will be interesting. Does Kendrick play LT or LG and Richmond play RT and Kerbyson either play LG or LT? I'm hoping it isn't too serious and Jackson will be back.
he could get it if he didnt play at all this yr. I think he'll be back though.
Johnson was injured last year. In 2013 he threw for 3500 yards and totaled 30 touchdowns. Bowling Green obviously doesn't play great competition though.
Mississippi State only beat them 21-20 in Starkville in 2013 though.
The fan that thought Peterman should start against Florida because he looked better on film.
This is what I was wondering, how could he burn a year if he doesn't even step on the field? I guess because he's in class using a scholarship. He may have to pay his way this year to get another year or something like that.
has nothing to do with a scholarship or anything like that. His time clock started his freshman year and a player has 5 years to complete eligibility from that point forward. The only consideration for a 6th year is if he misses two years of that 5 year period due to injuries.
He can apply for a 6th year but I think there is less than one percent chance of him being able to get it. If he is out all year this year that is the only year of the 5 he has missed due to injury.
But wait..........but wait.......wasn't someone saying recently that Dobbs wasn't throwing the ball well the last few practices and Jones was clearly "out-throwing" him? Why, I'm sure that poster thought it was just a matter of time before we have a qb controversy with the young Jones being cleary poised to leapfrog the athletically-challenged Dormady and take the inaccurate throwing Dobbs' "job". Are those videos doctored or something?

Only way would be to go back and claim injury was the reason for the first RS. We know that wasn't the case but perhaps he had some injury that made that decision easier
NCAA requires very good medical documentation to grant a medical redshirt.
Fulmer fired his training manager in 2005 because he failed to get the proper paperwork to get Demonte Bolden a medical redshirt.
Bolden took some reps at DT in the Ole Miss game (A very hot Saturday in Knoxville after we played LSU in baton Rouge on Monday night) to rest some guys in the short week.
They fully intended to request a medical redshirt but had no paperwork to back it up.
So for him to get it, there would need to be the proper paperwork. Butch thinks of so much it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't think of that.
IMO with every RS the trainers are keeping extra special close attention to paperwork regarding injuries for situations like this
Wouldn't surprise me either if they had documentation on Jackson
