Practice 10

And if they improve I'll love them too. But I'm done banking on getting a year older to turn a pitiful o-line into a good one. We were pitiful last year. Pitiful.

I'll have to see it to believe it that this o-line has improved after 3 year of pathetic play.

Just curious, you have said "feels like 98", we're going to be so much better than everyone thinks and praised Dormady as a NFL type passer.. which clearly needs a good offensive line for good results.

So which is it??? 98 or bad OL with a pocket passer?

Well, the stream of BS didn't take nearly as long to start flowing as I anticipated...

You don't know what you are talking about. Your ignorance of the game is profound. OL's don't improve as they mature? Really? You really can't be that ignorant can you?

Oh, and you know little about talent generally and even less about something that is difficult to understand... like OL.

Did I see correctly where he stated that OL is our weakness earlier?

remember Danny O last year? you went from hating him to loving him.

Also gone from hating on QD, saying if Jones wanted to keep his job that JG would be our qb this year, to suddenly acting like QD is a soon to be all-American.....maybe he saw some "tape" of Quinten the rest of us haven't?

Stop listening to those people. Bad players don't suddenly get better because they are a year older. We are the least talented on team team at offensive line.

The strength of this team is in the front 7. Defensive line and linebackers. That is why I expect us to have a top 10 defense nationally and the #1 or #2 defense in the SEC.

You are so wrong like you are so many times.

Coach Scott yelling "too many balls on the ground" during WR drills... 😑

I am sure to Coach Scott one ball on the ground would be 'too many balls on the ground'. Like Coach Gillespie, the guy is a demanding perfectionist. I look forward to watchiing this offense develop.

On a side note, the BoB is on at 7pm on the SECN.

Dobbs 4 Heisman I love the name!!
What do you have against TK Jr? Have you looked at his stats?
Our offensive line is the weakest? Didn't we break records on offense last year?
Our front seven is the strongest positions group?

"...but otherwise, the defense didn't allow another single reception."

This one sentence from OP makes me either hopeful for the defense or worried about the offense.

People forget we spent the last half of the year rolling up record yards and points. JK avg 6+ per carry, and these are the same guys who broke rushing records the year prior.

I love D4H enthusiasm, but please don't listen to him on oline

JG was excused to go home due to a Death in the family, it is in the practice report I don't know why someone hadn't put it on here before people on here have some stupid rumor stirred up that he has left or something. GO VOLS!!!!

I agree on the OLine. These guys have been bad 3 straight years. Why suddenly would they be much better?

I think you're being a little over-zealous on the defense. They should be solid. Not top10

We are 1 injury at DT from having a repeat of last year.

Did anyone catch the periscope after practice with Butch? He said it was unfortunate that JG had to miss practice but said that allowed Will McBride to take all the #2 reps. Did he just let slip who's ahead for the starting QB spot?

No

.

Why?

1. By the end of last season in some of our worst-looking games -- such as Alabama -- we sometimes had two freshman OL on the field at the same time. Freshmen are expected to improved the next season.

2. Some of our current OL weren't even part of those messes last season: 5-star Trey Smith who might be good enough to take a spot, Ryan Johnson and Niehaus who redshirted, the WV kid who was here for this past spring practice ... they all are fresh bodies who at least make our line deeper.

3. ALL our OLinemen should be a year stronger and wiser than they were last year, especially with Rock the new S&C coach, not to mention a different OL coach, too. I like any Redshirt Senior OL in a matchup against other teams' underclassmen DL. :hi:

Yes. Yes he did imo. Is there any doubt who the starter vs Ga Tech will be? I don't think there is.

The only freshman OL that played last year at all was Marcus Tatum, for maybe half the game vs Bama. The other freshmen OLs, Ryan Johnson and Devante Brooks and Nathan Niehaus all redshirted last year. So, at no point did we have two freshmen OL on the field at one point....and the only other time Tatum played another snap last season was in relief vs TN Tech.

We are 1 injury at DT from having a repeat of last year.

Ehh I don't think it would get that bad. I think Crosby, although he looks a little out of shape, could give us some valuable reps there. Butler could help us at DT also. And we haven't really seen what Alexis Johnson can do yet.

I don't think we see Tuttle this year unfortunately. Halfway through the season would make it a year out from his injury and it usually takes a longer recovery than that to make sure the ligament is completely healed with no risk of reinjury. No need to rush him back, even if we start to get thin at DT.

I think they will be better as a unit, mainly because they are deeper and a year stronger.

But I've heard for 2 straight years how the OL should be better and they just aren't. They've been a below average SEC line 3 straight years.

I hope I'm wrong because I think they may be the most important unit on the team this year with all the youth on offense.

Seriously??? Olinemen do progress as they get older. All players do unless they're not trying hard.
