I think it's the attitude of entitlement.

I love the Vols, and I naturally want a big name coach to swoop in and rescue the program. However, the reality is that the administration has problems; and, while we pride ourselves on our "passion," it is perceived by others as borderline mob-mentality.

It is what it is, and it will be another three to five years before we make a leap forward. That's just where we are.

The fan base has shown that they do not have the patience it will take for someone to build the program. The fan base has shown that they will turn on a coach with the first bad season. And the local media constantly stirs the pot lauding the good old days.

It is a toxic environment .... the legion of the miserables.

If Alabama had the same season we had THEIR FANS would be turning on Saban and that's a fact. Is LSU toxic? They're no different. Miles had a bad year and they turned on him...and it wasn't 4-8 either. Any big time school with a rich history is gonna turn on the coach if they go 4-8. That's a fact. We may never know how Georgia fans react to something like that cuz the chances of them going 4-8 is so slim. But IF it happened? Damn straight they'd be freaking out too.

Can everyone stop with the we need a Tennessee guy. None of these coaches really care, it comes down to money or some family related issue. Saban is not from Bama but he destroys people year in and year out.

We need a TENNESSEE guy.

"Mob-mentality" you mean like Kentucky basketball... oh wait that never scared off good coaches. No the problem has been administration, not the fans!! Tired of people blaming the fans!!

I wasn't blaming fans; I am a fan. I'm simply pointing out that in the court of public opinion, perception always dominates reality.

Has filled their position before Tennessee has.

Can we stop with the **** that everyone is dying to coach here? Malfunction management or not, a lot of people don't want the pressure and challenge. They'd rather beat Texas Tech and their biggest moment be playing in the Cotton Bowl. We have to realize this isn't for everyone.

Why would anyone want to coach here after Kiffin, Dooley, and Jones. Let alone what everyone did to Schiano. I know you guys are going to kill me for this but personally I hope Schiano gets a heading coaching job somewhere and wins big just so he can shove it up this fan base's A**.

Sorry to disapoint but Schiano’s not on any top teams short list. I never took the moral high ground as only God can judge but he was a .500 coach.
