Well. I've been hard at it since 4:30 am irrigating the lawn and pulling up weeds along the flower/veggie garden on the side of the house. In spite of my constant search for cucumbers to try and get them before they grow too large and start to turn yellow, I found one that was at least 3 times larger than I normally let them get. Hopefully the plant will not think it has done it's duty and stop producing other fruits. :(

It's so hot already that I decided to start off breakfast with a ice cold Corona extra... Don't tell my cardiac doc... lol

I was watering this morning. My wife the past few years has turned our yard into flower sanctuary. We have bees...butterflies.... hummingbirds galore. She has been raising monarch butterflies....she gets the tiny spec caterpillars....feeds them milkweed in a 10 gallon fish tank. They grow....go into their cocoons....10-14 days later they become beautiful butterflies. This last batch there was 16....We've done released 13 with 3 to go.

As far as veggies....I let the local farmers market do the growing. We go down on Saturday mornings and gather our crop...lol. I've done put up 4 dozen ears of corn...beans...peas...frozen blueberries...back in the spring froze a flat of local strawberries... cucumbers. We are set.

I woke up early today and spent an hour or so tearing out all the overgrown vines from my cuccuzza squash plants on the side of the house trellises. They had stopped producing any new fruits/squash. Time to clean out the old and replant for the fall growing season. I have cucumbers ready to transplant but it's too hot to do it now. might have to wait a week or so till this heat wave is thru, hopefully.
