Loved Teri Garr so much. THIS scene in Tootsie is her comic genius in a nutshell. Tootsie never gets old.

Garr was considered a shoo in for a best supporting Oscar for this UNTIL - my beloved, gorgeous, incredibly talented Jessica Lange, clearly the lead actress in Tootsie, also got put in the Supporting category.

Lange had a fantastic run at that time with Postman Always Rings Twice, her masterwork Frances, then Tootsie. She already had a Best Actress nom sewed up for Frances (one of the 20th century's best film performances) but the unbeatable Streep was also a shoo in nom in that category for Sophie's Choice. In order for Lange to get her due, they shoe horned her in the supporting category for Tootsie.

Predictably, Lange made history with noms in both supporting and lead categories and voters split the baby by giving Streep the best lead Oscar and Lange best supporting in Tootsie. Garr was left out and reportedly was crushed because Oscars are so hard to come by for comedy.

I had just started the dishwasher and stepped outside on the patio. Felt and heard it, thought the dishwasher had blown up. Strangest rumbling sound.

It ended up being a 4.1. This area has only had a 4 or greater one other time since 1900 and I was here for that one too. 1973, brand new freshman at UT, just back in the Carrick Hall dorm around 2 a.m. after a pretty good bender. Got momentarily scared straight. This one sounded like a freight train passing. Again, very strange experience for this area.
I was watching TV in the living room.
When I heard noise I looked couldn't see any army helicopters.
Sometimes one or two helicopters fly over .
And pass 30 yards to about 50 yards from my house.

Few hours later they fly back the way they come from most times.
Anyway couldn't see any helicopters.
Or did not see and rain to explain thunderstorm.
Which the noise last around 25 seconds
Like the WBIR said.
The helicopters might barely shake a few windows on the side of the house where they normally fly through here.
But this earthearthquake shake all the windows worser than the army helicopters.
Sometimes old vehicles will barely shake few windows.
Could not see any helicopters or vehicles.
Could not explain the shaking or the loud noise until I seen YouTube video from WBIR.

I enjoy seeing the helicopters fly by .
But usually you can hear them coming.
But this earthquake came with no warning .
The noise and shaking started all at once.
I to hope we don't have any more that makes news in Tennessee or surround states.
Thankful nobody house was damage.
As we know of.

Better word for the helicopters would be barely jarring the windows form the noise not shaking like this earthquake

Okay Peeps, I could use your prayers today. Taking off today on a road trip with the Wifey back to her birth state for a celebration of life event for her late mother. What I need help, divine or otherwise with is to survive the constant playing of Pokemon that Wifey does on her phone and if not that, the phone calls that she will be making to who ever she can get to listen to her prattle on for hours on end about the most dumb stuff in the universe/Pokemon. It's a damn sickness... IMHO. ;(

I've got an idea though. When she starts up today with her Pokemon sickness, I'm gonna turn up the volume on some old Hank Williams music in the car. That will give me a diversion and drive her crazy... lol She hates that old whiny nasal HW music.

Yo, what are you close to drawing the copters? Have my own issues during Guard weeks each year living near the airport. Copters and those massive re-fuelers doing touch and go’s. Also see most of the fly over planes for Neyland.

I guess the army national guard helicopter Pilots.
Like the mountain area I live in.
They fly in over one mountain top towards my house.
Then after passing by my house they fly over different mountain top .
Keeping on the there set fly plan.
Then most of time back tracking the fly pattern they come from.
Don't think I call two to five fly bys a year problem.

Sometimes there's a double propeller helicopter like ch-47
Chirook. Don't know if that's the particular helicopter passing by my house.
One or two times they where five or six flying following each other.
Most of times there's three or less helicopors.

There's no cell phone coverage because of the mountains and to far from a cell tower.
There's nothing in the area the but mountains .

I guess practicing flying in mountain area is what draws them to my area.
That I lived in.
They usually fly low over the trees so most of time .
I can easily see which Chopper has a single or double propellers.
Most of the time @GUNTERSVOL
Most of the time they fly in the evening hours.
Rarely they fly by at night just after dark and fly back out before I go to bed.they never fly by late went I'm trying to sleep
Most of time the helicopter are double propellers.
Sometimes there's one that have a refueling port.

They like flying the mountains. Practice flying nap of the earth. NAP

If There is a single propeller chopER in the group most of the time has that radar device about the helicopters propellears.
They after just clearing the mountain ridge approaching my house .
They they decrease attitude to just fly over the trees tops because if they stayed at same attitude to clear the mountain ridge I wouldn't get to seeing the helicopters good from home.
To be fair older vehicles who needs a Muffler shop visit are more annoying than the helicopters.

Back in my Guntersville years choppers were low and common and came to find out they had heat detection gizmos and were following TVA transmission right of ways at dusk and later checking for hidden whacky weed patches. It seems that crop held a lot of heat and easily detectable from the air. What I was told anyway while living adjacent to a big power line.

Worked out of Huntsville and Guntersville for 25 years but was allowed to take my job home and move my home BACK to the knox/blount to assist my aging parents. As long as I had internet and an airport I could fulfill my corporate level functions. Born and bred East Tennessean spending all 12 of my school years at Bearden.

Little Wifey turns the big 7 0 on Sunday and we have a week of hiking, train riding and site seeing in Bryson city NC. starting tomorrow.
Hope to come back to hear nothing but good news for the Lady Vols. and the men Vols too. lol ya'll hold the rope for me. :)

I was watching this movie (Magnum Force) last night and remembered an interview with David Soul about this movie...He said after this scene in the garage, when they drove off with their motorcycles as bad asses, off screen they all crashed into each other and ended up in a big pile...It was early in the shoot and they could not ride too well yet...Also, in a small garage while exiting, there is no way a motorcycle would get into second gear, like the sound implies.

Everytime I see this film, I wait for this scene....

The GOOD news....

I survived a week long vacation with the Wifey....

The BAD news....

came back home to HOT temps and looks like my garden veggies have either bolted or died from no rain. The squash are doing great though.

On a recent rainy afternoon, with nothing particular to do, I set down in front of my television with a hot cup of coffee and watched this classic film; Ivanhoe.....Seeing the beauty of a 19 year old Elizabeth Taylor, the dashing good looks of a gallant Robert Taylor, and the cast of other numerous stars and unnamed extras, brought this film to life in the 21st century....It was time well spent....
