Awesome if true!

Chaney and Thompson were the guys I was really worrying about because they will help salvage the recruiting class the most.

Fulton also said Chaney would be running the offense...awesome news....GO VOLS

Just saw it as well. Wooooooooooo! Chaney! I love my life right now. I thought he should have been running the offense and calling plays last year. The guy recruited Brees/Orton and they were awesome under him. Yessss! Bray is going to be a beast!

How about considering Tennessee blood to round out staff, such as:

Jay Graham
Dale Jones or Al Wilson
Marion Hobby

Haven't posted in a long time...but been following the site....haven't heard this name mentioned, but how about Walt Harris for QB Coach. For those that weren't following Vols Football in the '80s, he was OC for the 1985 SEC Championship team that went on to beat a very good Miami team in the '86 Sugar Bowl. He is currently QB Coach/Passing Game Coordinator at Akron. This job would definitely be an upgrade.

I love Al Wilson but everyone keeps mentioning him as a coach. Is he currently coaching? What's he been doing?

His had an ok run as Pitt's coach, failed miserably as a HC at Stanford, but from what I remember he was a pretty good coach while at UT. Heck he beat a nearly professional quality team in Miami with a walk-on QB when he coached here.

I'm on board with bringing some former Vols back who have a little fire in their belly and love for UT--give me Al Wilson in some capacity and I'll guarantee you he make some of this current "lost generation" of vols into leaders and victors.

I've read where Stacy Searels [O-Line Coach at Georgia] is one of CDD's closest friends, I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to steal him from Georgia.

For all of those wanting to get Trooper back, we must not forget that he made some derogatory comments about the Vols when Kiffin and crew were coaching. I realize that he may not have approved of Kiff and company, but to comment about the team was uncalled for. I remember reading posts on here about his comments while I was in Iraq. I realize that everything posted on this site is not 100% accurate and may in fact be wrong, but maybe we should be careful about wanting old staff back. I will say that the guy is a spark plug and full of energy. If I am wrong on his negative comments, I do apologize in advance.

We had Tennessee blood running the program with Fulmer and you see where that got us.

Look at what Alabama blood did for them.

We need to hire the best coaches possible regardless of where they come from.

I know they suffered injuries on the O line this year, but we out performed his O line with walk ons. I've got to question his coaching abilities.

There are the guys I've seen that could be coming here:

Oklahoma State Offensive Coordinator/Wide Receiver Coach Gunter Brewer
LA Tech Defensive Coordinator Tommy Spangler
LA Tech Defensive Backs/Recruiting Coordinator Terry Joseph
LA Tech Linebackers Coach Stan Eggen
Offensive Line Coach Art Kehoe

That's all I've seen thus far, I haven't heard anything about Trooper but Garner is a long shot I think.

Were have you been Trooper Taylor was on the list soon after DD presser.

Dale Jones has done a fine job at Appy State. He has helped develop some good LB's there. If Lance goes to a different position, then I say bring him on. Give us some in-roads into NC recruiting which has been kind to us over the years (Jimmy Streater, Heath Shuler, etc. etc.)

Although I've posted in this thread already, for whatever reason, when I logged in today and clicked on the link, I thought this was going to be about staffing the Athletics Department.

I really don't care who we bring in as assistants big name or not; but, whoever comes in here had better not be a Dave Clawson. We need coaches that can recruit, develop our talent, and have our players ready to execute the game plan on Saturdays. We are going to need a new Defensive Coordinator, as losing Monte was the biggest hit to the program, a big name would help in recruiting, but a guy like Lance Thompson could get the job done as well. This staff could make or break Dooley as our Head Coach as the SEC isn't a training ground for inexperienced coaches. So Dooley had better get it right the first time around or he may not be here very long.

We screwed up by letting him dismiss Cregg he was a great coach imo. Our line wasnt very talented and we ran the ball great this year

Cregg and Kiffin had a bromance..no way I wanted that joker to stay around. Chaney was the reason for the line improvement.

Which once again shows that you know nothing about football...Wow :eek:lol:

I didn't want him either. So I don't know anything? How quickly your forget Oklahoma and Texas Tech's high powered offense being trashed at the hands of SEC defenses. Big 12 can keep their gimmick offenses.

Chaney is a far better choice.

I would not blame Clawson. Phil put his foot on his throat and would not let him put his full playbook in.

I saw that we might be hiring Eric Russell as our next special teams coordinator. The guy said we might make it official some time today or tomorrow.

Perhaps Gunter is being discussed as a Receivers coach, I'm not sure he would take a pay cut to go from OC to Receivers but I can't really see Chaney being demoted.
