Well if this is the route we are going why don't we call Kippy up and get them both. Rumor has it we need a WR coach too...

(Yes, I know CCB is gone).

If we are voting on the issue (as tho we could) I am voting for both

Sirmon hadn't recruited before either...

I'd like to see a video of him to see how animated he is. Kids like jumpin up and down and towel wavin'... dang VH1.

Sounds like a great hire.

BTW, is Gerald Kippy Brown's brother? It seems I recall some speculation about hiring Gerald Brown after Kippy was hired in December of 2009.

It's Michael Turner, what coaching does he exactly need?? You have to be able to develop players in college, and you don't exactly do that at a real high level in the NFL. Players may need some polishing, but they are in the league for a reason.

Fair enough, but you can't deny that it would work. I'd want to play for a coach who coached in the league. He'll know what it takes to get there.

I am not sure how an NFL running backs coach is a reach. Also, I do not see an ace recruiter that is a RB coach that is willing to come here.

Yes I remember that but others don't. Maybe you and I are wrong but I remember him being rumored.

I'm excited, but I'm not going to jump the gun. He coached at IU. That is one of the worst FB programs in the nation, IMO. Did he coach anyone successful there? Coaching an NFL player is much different than coaching a college player.

Why would he move down? Especially when hes only a few years from being eligible for that fat retirement money. 15 years = big money for NFL coaches if im not mistaken.

You never know why he would consider U.T. For instance, Peterson can easily leave Boise State but his son had medical issues and the best place for him now is at Boise State.
The assistant at UGA, who was once a U.T. assistant, will not leave UGA because his wifes family are all from the Athens area and it is likely she won't let him leave.
There are many instances in which coaches make decisions based on family issues. This may be the case.

He wasn't rumored to be coming here. If this happens, then I'm not sure Dooley understands how paramount it is to get one ace recruiter on staff. He may understand it, but it's painful to see it being handled the way it is.

Eric

I am not trying to prove you wrong but another poster remembers him being rumored for the LK staff. I also remember him being considered a really good recruiter. Maybe it was discussed on here then and that can answer some things for us about his ability as a recruiter. Anybody else remember the last time he was rumored to be coming here with his brother?

Ok, am I the only one to say no to this?? We need an elite recruiter, and this guy recruited last at Indiana. This would be a mistake.

I think a great nfl rb coach would not have to work as hard to prove themselves to a recruit. Usually rbs do not have much impact as freshman, so DD probably needs someone to take what we have and get the most results, otherwise he might not get another chance. So I don't know if recruiting ability is high on his list for this position at the moment.

Maybe someone more internet savvy than me can help, because I can't seem to find IU's rushing statistics from '02-'07.

Tiger Droppings rumor from 2009. You are correct, it was a rumor back then also.

Rumor: Kippy Browns younger brother Gerald Brown @ TigerDroppings.com

Rumor was when Clawson was hired. We were all hoping for Kippy but he wanted to bring gerald with him. Fulmer said no and went with clawson. That's what I was just told by a buddy with a better memory than me.

Didn't kippy have some hard feelings with the program after his "interview" for head coach or was that just with mike hamilton?

Dont know about the whole team, but the teams leading rushers from '02-'05 had 1057 carries for 4337 yards which is 4.1 YPC. Again, this is just for the the teams leading rusher.

Edit: from '02-'07
