Potential NBA Destinations

That's where it gets hairy. I think 7 + a 2020 unprotected is too much. Even with Lonzo, this team could miss the playoffs and now we're giving up a lottery pick. I would do my best to throw Kris Dunn, possibly a 2021 top 3 protected pick.. but the Lakers don't really want picks. May have to eat a bad contract, give up 7.. that I do.

To move up to 4? Eh. 7 and Kris Dunn isn't cutting it. Are we REALLY that sold on Garland or White to give up what it would take? Probably not.
The Lakers don't really have any more bad contracts and I doubt Kris Dunn does anything for them. I think your cost is going to be another future first with very limited protections if any at all. The Lakers would want picks to package for an AD trade or for another star. They would love Markannen but I doubt y'all are getting rid of him.

You think Ja is the best choice?

He's little and untested. Explosive for sure, maybe the most explosive I've ever seen, but not sure that's enough for the NBA. I'm curious to see how he works out.
He’s explosive and he has excellent vision to be a true point guard. And while he’s not the best shooter in the country, he’s better than a lot of people think. And he has the potential to be a solid defender too if he can kick his motor into high gear (which might be easier when he’s not expected to carry the whole offense on his shoulders like he was in college).
But regardless of what I think about it, he seems like the grizzlies likely choice
