Well, I saw many good things: running, defense for the most part, a good game plan. What I didn't see was the TN receivers catching many passes, but that's hard to do when the pass is either over your head or bounced off the turf with no defender between the receiver and the QB. Tennessee lost this game for two reasons: Crompton couldn't throw a decent pass and Foster FUMBLED another ball in the goal line area that could have helped retain momentum. This team can improve but only if the QB and RB get their act together. I'm going to support Clawson because I think he deserves it, for now. There was some confusion at times but could it be that a coach (Clawson) is finally trying to do his job and not live on way past successes? We'll see what improvements there are next week but there better be much because Florida is coming soon.

i can't blame our offense too much (except for the fumble) crompton settled in and played better the 2nd half, the pass protections was horrible.

i am glad to see clawson through the ball down field, i do think we should have run it more. i thing our offense will get better.

i do worry about our defense, chavis got outcoached again. and we lost to another backup QB

  • Foster should not be the featured back...Hardesty runs harder and gets more production.
  • The "prevent defense" only prevents us from winning...any team we play will know they can basically get at least 3 points when running their 2-minute drill.
  • Chavis doesn't make good adjustments anymore...not sure why, he just doesn't
  • Why was Jonathan Crompton never moved from the pocket? Strange.
  • The O-line couldn't keep pressure off him in the 2nd half...I attribute that more to UCLA making the right changes at the half, but still....
  • Crompton has a cannon for an arm, but the coaches need to allow him to scramble in certain situations...he looked pensive, like there was a shock collar on him if he moved out of pocket.
  • And, again, Foster needs to play backup...his fumble probably cost TN an outright win.

i think we need to give crompton some slack, hey didn't play hardly any last year. i think they offense will get better. i do think that clawson wants crompton to throw it down field which he did. our Defense play calling is again pathetic, chavis can't adjust. he'll beat us more than our offense will

i'm not saying they were great at all. if you were expecting crompton to play great his first game, then you really to pull your head out of your butt.

i didn't expect him to play that great, 1st start in 2 years, he didn't play much last year.

the fact is that our defense should have been able to stop 70 yrds of dink and dunk pass but they didn't. against a 3rd string QB. no excuses for our Defense.

Game Grades:

DL - B+ Good game, penetrated well.
LB - B- Against run A against pass C
DB - B+ 4 Int's are great! Problem was
they gave far too much room to
UCLA recievers for being such an
athletic group!

OL - D This was our strength!! Crompton
had a hand in his face all night and
most of the time could not step and
throw. . .only off his back foot!

WR - ? You can't catch if you're not thrown to!

RB - B+ Again, they'd have an A+ if they got
the ball!

QB - C Made some rookie mistakes, but sure
has a good upside!! He'll make us
proud before he's done!

ST - A- Return team had a number of good
runs.

Coaching - D I've always been a Fulmer fan,
but I just don't understand why
we didn't run the ball more to
take off the obvious pressure
on Crompton!! I mean, we did
average 5.2 yds. a carry.
C'mon guys!!

He doesn't make any adjustments just keeps taking his lumps like the stubborn old mule he is.
