Yep. Stephens sucks too. You start shuttling them in and out, and then you've got nothing.

I would have been all in favor of benching Crompton early today if we'd had any viable option with any upside at all on the bench, but there's just nothing else there. Jim Bob Cooter isn't walking through that door anymore.

Good point. He's crawling through the window.

For our sake if we ever went to stevens, he better be good. Otherwise, it'll be musical chairs like someone else said. If that happens, then you'll think we have it bad now. Honestly, a good defeat might spark a new flare in their eyes. Maybe mentally after WKU they thought they could beat anyone and maybe looked down upon USC. Who knows? I just hope I see an improved team next week.

Favorite quote from the Kiffin locker room show after the game on the radio:
Q: What did you say to Crompton after he threw the interception?
A: Whatever I said it didn't matter because he went out there and threw another one.

The trouble is he knows that Stephens is no Manning....granted he may be better than Crompton though.

Now I wish I had listened. That could be the quote of the year!

If Stephens could not beat out Crompton in practice speaks volumes how dire the qb situation is.

This should come to no surprise for most. We are 2 years away to competing in the SEC. Fulmer simply left the cupboard dry.

Well USC still knows how to call plays without Kiffin..needed 3 yards..got it in one play...UT has 2 chances to get that and no luck!

Crompton may very well be better than Stephens in PRACTICE.. but as we all know Cromptons practice game does not translate over to the REAL GAME. this doesn't mean Crompton is better than Stephens, is just means he beat him out in PRACTICE with seems to be Crapton's strong suit. Stephens is known as more of a gamer anyways which is what we need. He can make all the throws Crapton can so why not give him the chance.. Although next week might not be the best time for that b/c we don't want to destroy his confidence too, but I say start stephens from here on out for the future

What happens if Moore catches that ball for a first down and the drive stays alive? Or Hancock pulls down the deep cross that was completely catchable? Or Stocker doesn't drop the passes thrown to him? Or BB takes that swing pass and runs north instead of east and picks up the first down?

All of these things would have helped Crompton's stats and confidence. It's agreed that he is not going to win the Heisman. And yet he is not the reason we lost. He is one of the reasons.

Our recievers couldn't get speration and dropped a lot of balls. The OLine had a horrible game. They couldn't run or pass block. The play calling was suspect. 50% of the time our tackling wasn't sound.

Peyton Manning might have lost this game. To dump it all at the feet of Crompton is unfair and shows how little you know about the game of football.

GO VOLS!!!

I'm okay with him not criticizing him, just saying he (imo) should have seen the bench after his first pick in the second half. You could clearly tell he had no confidence....or game.

If they had no qualms about benching Bryce Brown after running out of bounds, they should not have blinked an eyelash at sitting Mr. Potato Head on the bench after the second interception.

And I MIGHT have run it in for a touchdown had I been allowed to play. Seems an equal comparison to me.

We'd all be talking about what a great win it was and what a great job LK did calling the game.

I've thought about that too. Two yards in the 4th quarter and he's a hero. Such is college football.

It's only an equal comparison if you make an attempt to walk on. The only thing that irritates me more than dumping a loss like this on a single player, are fans who claim they could have done better.

Unless your a D-1 or D-2 athlete, I can say with all certainty, you would not have run it in if you had been allowed to play. You would have probably gotten hurt. If you are a D-1 or D-2 athlete, I apologize. You might have scored.

My point is not to conjure up a million hypothetical situations or make excuses. The truth is the entire offense played rather poorly. Crompton carries his fair share along with the rest of the team, including Kiffin.

This was a tough loss. They will learn from it and improve next week.
