Postgame Press Confrence?

It's hard to watch. I hate watching stuff like this. I got emotional seeing Fulmer's resignation conference, and I hated it. I see a man like Derek Dooley who is trying his hardest to win these games and come up short, and I hate it. He seems like a good man who has tried his darndest to get this team back on track. I understand that he has a family he loves and needs to support, and his future is in jeopardy right now. To even have a chance of keeping his job, he would need to win out every game, bowl game included, in a dominant fashion. It's been hard to watch, and to watch him hobble around these past few weeks due to his hip surgery is even harder to watch. Comparing his older press conferences to now, it's really sad.

But what I find to be the REAL tragedy here is that Sal Sunseri, much like Dave Clawson to Fulmer, is going to be the final straw for Dooley. If we had a defense that was even mediocre (nationally ranked like 60ish), we'd be a 7-1 ball club with a loss to Alabama, and that would even be less ugly than it was.

In summation, I want to say thank you to Derek Dooley. Thank you for attempting to bring Tennessee out of the dungeon and back into the limelight. I know it wasn't for lack of effort. He gave his all for Tennessee, but I'm not sure it'll be enough. Thank you Coach Dooley.

Looks defeated. As a person he's a great guy. Was hoping he could turn it around. But now we have to make a change. Tired of losing. We are Tennessee. We don't avg 7-5. & that's if we win out.:banghead2:

Dooley sounded as down as I've heard him on the postgame radio show with Bob. Call it bad coaching, bad luck, bad hires or whatever, he isn't getting it done. He took a job that had a horrible roster. He's upgraded the roster and made the job much easier for someone else coming in. I wish it would've worked out, but it hasn't. Time for yet another change.

It's really easy to sit on the computer and say what Dooley should have done (in hindsight, I might add) but my guess is that not many of you have ever coached at the college level, let alone be HC in the SEC.

Dooley's record sucks but I appreciate what he has done to help turn our program around. We now have the players to compete again in the SEC, just need some breaks to go our way for once and it seems like they've been going against us for years.

when he took over, we were 6-7...he's gone 6-7, 5-7 and 3-5 so far....3 consecutive 0-5 sec starts...only VANDY has ever accomplished that horrid feat before....are we REALLY in a " much better position" now?...and please dont give me that "we've been competitive and almost won some games" stuff...what's the saying...." you are what your record says you are"

If you can't see the improvements across our entire roster then I'm not sure what to tell you. I agree that his record sucks, but its not like he's lost to bad teams this year. I'm not for moral victories either, but players have to make plays and our players have come up short with chances to win against Florida, UGA, Miss St, and USC.

He has absolutely built a great foundation. I still hope he finishes the remaining games with wins. I don't like the thought of him being fired and part of me still thinks he's the right man for the job. He made a mistake with bringing in Sal, and the breaks just don't seem to go his way.

No pity party for Dooley. Guy is going to get $5M regardless of what happens.

The money isn't the point. There's more to life and careers than money. Some people are talented at what they do And some people have to work really hard. Dooley fits in the second camp. He loves the game And everything about the game. He just isn't there yet as a head coach. If he were on div 1-AA or II He would probably see more success. I hate to see people fail. Especially when they pour all they can into something....and anyone who says that man hasn't given his all for Tennessee is delusional. His all just isn't good enough in the sec.

So you challenge the spot

I get it.

But honestly, what does that extra timeout do for us?? Bray threw an int on 2nd down with plenty on time on the clock to move us down the field to tie/win the game. Instead he threw it up for grabs and we lost the game.

Even if his W-L record doesn't show, he should get credit for turning our program around. We're in a much better position now than when he took over.

No were not...He took over a team who went to a bowl game...Took his first team to a bowl game and has gotten WORSE as the time has gone on...Oh yeah he turned it around alright, Turned the other way!...We are suppose to be going UP not DOWN..Not sure where you guys get your logic.

If we win out then we go to a bowl game with a better record than his first 2 years.

He's probably physically exhausted as well....I'm sure the rigors of being a HC in the SEC compounded with recent hip surgery had his ass dragging

If he wins out it means he beat a bunch of losing teams to make a bowl game...This schedule was designed to help him make a bowl game and even with the EASY teams he has struggled to put them away...If he makes 7 wins it will be against garbage teams and in my eyes that means he hasn't accomplished a damn thing.

I'm so sick of hearing this. He went to a bowl game in his first year, last years team was decimated by injuries and quit against Kentucky, and this year we've lost against some of the best teams in the country but will still go to a bowl game.

Our roster is better at every position across the board. He may have his flaws as a HC but some of you act like he's been sitting on his hands for 3 years, not trying to make this program better.

Florida? Not easy.
Georgia? Not easy.
Alabama? Not easy.
South Carolina? Not easy.
Mississippi State? Not easy.

There have really been no "gimme" games for us. I understand you're as upset as the rest of us, but that's a foolish statement to make.

Yeah.....who expects a gutted program to beat 3 top 10 teams 3 years removed from a dumpster fire and the first year competing with a full roster?
