I now believe we are seeing the end of a great Coaching tenure at Tennessee. We have had the honor and priviledge of watching one of the greatest coaches in any sport for a long time build championship teams. I think we can all see now how terrible of a disease Coach Summitt is dealing with and how hard it must be for her. She seemed so disattached from the game last night and that unmatched death stare that use to look right through people has grown dim. Although, the courage she shows to continue to battle should encourage all to remain strong in difficult times and appreicate the health the LORD has blessed you and your family with. To not take for granted all the things we are blessed with daily. With that said, I will take a Coach Summitt with the condition she has still over any other coach who has ever coached the game.

I watched it and it was SAD! I didnt realize that Pat Summit was no longer coaching. Has this been the norm for the Lady Vols since she was diagnosed? I agree she seemed very detached from the game, I wish her the best. Im a huge football fan but IMO there has been nothing greater for the U of T than what PS has done over the years.

I don't post that often, especially on this topic, but wanted to share a few thoughts...

The first time I even knew there was such a thing as Women's College Basketball was as a kid in the early '80s when I was flipping through the channels and came across the Women's Final Four and stopped because I saw a team from Tennessee competing. Although they lost that particular game, something about the drive and competitiveness of the team and their passionate coach caught my eye, and I've kept up with them ever since.

Watching coach Summit with her patented 'glare' and her determination to win has been a great inspiration. To see her unwillingness to settle for anything less than perfection out of her players and her desire to always learn more and improve is a quality I've always admired and is what has endeared her to the rest of the nation. I love coach Summitt and hope the remainder of her time here on this earth is filled with joy, love, and laughter.

After watching several of the games this year, it is obvious that she's not included in the decisions anymore and that her staff is shouldering her load. Unfortunately, her staff doesn't have the ability to get after the players and officials like Pat did so easily.

This team could've gone in one of two directions: 1) Have been driven to achieve more; to go out there and give it their all for coach Summitt or 2) Have been depressed and distraught over what is happening to their beloved leader and let that affect their mental states in a negative way. Sadly, it seems like #2 is what's happening to this team.

It pains me to watch this awful disease take away the emotions and fire of one of the greatest coaches of all time. As mentioned by the OP, live life to its fullest and don't take one moment for granted.

Thanks to Coach Summitt for all you've done for the University, WCBB, and the great state of TN. Win or lose, we'll always have your back...
