here is something that may help with blocking field goals. it doesn't matter who you start out wit. just let them run. you will likely be picked up by someone. when the holder gets the ball from the center, switch players. it should switch to someone who is close to the ball and when it switches players then hit y (triangle on ps2) to jump up there and stuff the kick. i first tried this in practice and i went from blocking 0 of 10 field goals to 4 of 10.

Thanks, I couldn't block anything but now I've blocked 3 out of approx. 13 or 14:eek:k:

I really hate that you can't make the QB's pull down the pass and run with it on the 07 game. You used to be able to toggle the passes and either run or pass.

If your playing on the 360 right trigger is turbo and is not assigned to any reciever so if you want to run instead of pass just hit that and go baby go. You don't have to turnoff the passing icons like you used to.

OWB, I had/have the same problem. I am so used to bringing down the passing icons I go into shock when it does not happen.

this way is actually 10x better. it is faster to start sprinting then having to toggle back and forth.

I love blitzing with one or both of my corners- depending on what formation their are in. If you have a stud on the D-line (like Harrell)-and have good snap timing, you can bust through the O-line more often, making the corner blitz even more effective. I use Harrell almost exclusively on D.

This does leave you weak against the slot recievers, so I recommend that you go into zone when you do this. Most player don't use their slot ppl that much anyway.

Also, if you like blitzing with linebackers, and your opponent knows it, show blitz with him on one side and secretly send a corner from the other. He'll automatically run away from you after the snap right into the corner. muahahah!!!!

As with all the previous games I put a wide reciever in at FB in the I, Strong and Weak formations. You gain a mismatch on a linebacker.

In the Dime put your fastest conerback in the 4 slot on the depth chart. I forget what the play is called but your dime backs blitz, you will either get pressure or sack the quarterback on all passing plays.

I know you can do stuff like that, but I almost always avoid making subs of that nature. You're essentially taking advantage of the AI (though the corner blitz has merit) and its inability to compensate for such a move.

I remember playing in a Madden tournament where a guy tried subbing Torry Holt in at the 5th receiver so he could run a fly pattern against my LB.

As soon as he paused it and made the move, I paused and subbed out my LB for my fastest player. Two can play that game.

Now the formational subs are a different story, thanks in part to the AIs use of them as well. I don't mind flipping receivers, going to big formations, etc...because the AI will use formational subs on offense and defense.

As for my favorite play...well, I haven't had a lot of playing time, but I'd have to say some any play action with a good crossing route to the play side.

You could use a team with fast defensive ends. If he is on the right side, take a d end off the line and blitz from the left, or the other way. It will force him to roll the other way. Then your other D end may be able to get by his man and give the qb a hard time. He will find himself rolling out to the side line and will make a mistake most likely.

If your opponent likes to throw deep everytime (I know people like this online) use deep zone and use a play where both linebackers blitz from the outsides.

Honestly, I find myself enjoying playing the AI more than humans...as long as institute the "house rules" and don't take advantage of the AI (money plays, playing players out of position, etc).

I prefer an opponent at least try to use a running game. Too often I find playing another person that they're pass/run ratio is horrible.

If I can find someone to play that actually uses some strategy instead of the concept of "throw deep to my best receiver and often", then I'm more than happy to play them.

yes, I find the hardest type of offense to stop is the long-bombers, who chunk it up there almost every play and hope to get lucky. I've tried 3 and 4 man deep zones, double teaming their main targets, blitzing the hell outta the passer, everything! I find the heavy blitz to be most effective, but you can't get the QB every time!

They always seem to pull off that miracle pass on 3rd and long, after my D has sacked them twice in a row.

I have excellent run coverage- very few players can run on me consistently. I believe my opponent run avg so far is like 25 yard per game.

Anyone out there who excells at stopping the pass care to offer insight?

The last time I played one like that was a few weeks ago. The guy took Penn State and tried lobbing it up to their #1 three straight times. I usually like to stay fairly basic. Cover 2 man, Cover 2 zone, blitz on a 3rd and short....however, I knew this guy after 3 straight bombs would keep trying it.

Still, cover 2 man and blitzing wasn't dissuading him. I even tried pressing on the outside but he'd still "try".

I eventually found that doubling the receiver defense (which can be flopped if he ends up moving him to the other side) gave me the ability to bump him initially, gave me Hefney or Stewart as additional help, and blitzed one backer for a little more pressure.

It got him to finally try other receivers, which didn't work as well. Once I got him out of that, I was able to "show" the same defense over and over. This influenced him to believe that I was doubling the receiver, even when I wasn't.

Quarter defenses that double receivers may also be of help.

Good adivce. Traditionally, I've never used the double outs or any of the double-team variations. I favored huge zones to stop the pass. Recently, i've been using these more and more- especially is their impact player is one of their WR's. I usually get beat on the far left side of the field with UT, that DB always gets burned deep (not sure who it is at the moment).

This is vs. Alabama for me... As Tennessee.

Darby is an insane RB in here. Bama is going to rush a ton. So far, my only success stopping him has been lining up a 4-4 with an 8 man rush, and having a safety directly cover him. He can still get first downs.

On offense, Bama has a pretty sick pass rush. But their defensive backfield is easily smoked by both Meachem and Swain. Just get 3 additional blockers (yes -- 8 guys pass blocking for Ainge. you will need it) and send Meach and Swain on fly/post routes all game. They won't always catch the ball, but they almost always get enough of it to prevent an INT. Other than that, they smoke the d-backs. Just air a pass out long and voila, TD.

Or you could run a normal offense and beat them quite handily like I do. I have found that the easiest way to beat bama is to pound the rock. They have made the AI adjust to what you are doing on offense. Pound the rock until they start to creep up and then hit 'em with a playaction. No need to throw it deep every time, that would just be boring.

Bringing up icons pre-play... I forget. I only play computer, and when I play my friends I just memorize the routes.

R2 is the pitch button.

I can run the option part, but if i decide to pass it the icons are not up and he will dive or whatever after i hit the recievers button,

I dunno if it's the same on 07 as it is on 05... but on 05 you press L2 to put the ball down and run or to bring the passing icons back up.

I've never really tried it, because there's too much pressure coming in anyways. I usually just take the hit for a loss if I haven't lined up the proper blocking. I know on halfback passes, you hit X while still in the backfield and that brings up the passing icons. Try that?

That is what you do. I run option pass out of Shotgun some and if you use it right it is very effective.

God Bless and Go Vols

the Option also works good out of the Flexbone/Wishbone formations.

I rarely run options with UT, cause Ainge is so damn slow, but it can be done. You gotta cut up field with him ASAP, or you'll get gulped up easily. Make a defender commit to Ainge upfield, then toss way out to Foster. I've busted some big plays with this. If Foster gets loose, your garanteed at least 20 yds.
