I usually post an offensive and defensive two deep depth chart after spring practice to generate discussion. These projections are generally based on last season performance, comments by coaches this spring, and information on volquest and here. I limited it to a 2 deep everywhere except RB because after last year, I know 3 will play alot. Also, the way we play our WRs, I believe everyone listed, and probably 1-2 more will play significant minutes. There will undoubtedly be alot of consensus for the starter picks if you're a close follower (with the exception of one WR and OT position). However, there should be plenty of debate with names not on here with some of the 2's I listed.

QB
1) Hooker
2) Milton

RB
1) Small
2) Wright
3) Williams-Thomas

WR
1) Tillman
2) Holiday/Callaway

WR
1) McCoy
2) Keyton

Slot
1) Hyatt
2) White or Merrill

TE
1) Warren
2) Fant

OT
1) Mincey
2) Crawford

OG
1) Carvin
2) Lane

OC
1) Mays
2) Nichols

OG
1) Spraggins
2) Harris

OT
1) Wright
2) Davis

Nervous about the OL. Everything else looks good
I'm actually nervous about QB.
Hooker took some shots last year.
He's going to try and work his way into a 1st day NFL pick this season. He may run a little different. He's all we really have at QB

I mean how many college teams really have good backup QB situations? We’ve got an experienced guy who’s started a decent amount of games in two different P5 conferences, and a fairly highly ranked freshman

Which players on the OL coming in do you believe will end up in the two-deep? Lane has started games and spent all year last season as a backup playing significant minutes. Crawford may beat out Mincey for the starting spot so he's got to be on the two deep. I hope someone steps up more capable than Davis, but I haven't read anything to suggest a guy like Parker or Perry is ready to serve as a primary backup yet. I believe the only questionable person in the two deep is Kingston Harris at OG. I put him there because he played some at the start of last season as a backup before getting injuried and the staff has seemed to praise him in the past, despite his injuries. The other options are Robinson or a true freshman.

Yeah there's been like no Kingston Harris talk when last year we were definitely weaker at o-line after he went down. He was by far the best back up guard we had.

Right, it's entirely possible a freshman will be slotted to provide depth there. I haven't heard anything about K. Harris this spring either. After completing this two-deep, that position definitely looks to be an area of concern. I would imagine Lane would be the first guy to fill either OG spot.

The Mincey transfer has been underrated.

We would obviously be a lot weaker right now if we didn't secure him. We don't know how good he will be, but the dude could easily start. Was a very important get.

We have a right to be worried about the offensive line, but other than left tackle we have some proven guys. I mean one bad cog in the machine can derail the whole operation, but you can't underestimate bringing back everyone but Cade. Cooper being healthy is the most important thing. Everytime he went down we got a lot worse.

All of the elite teams have their returning starters and really talented backups.

Hooker takes hits. He's increasing his risk of injury with his playstyle.

You could argue that we lost to Ole Miss because he couldn't be in there on that crucial series.

Looks like a great lineup, only concern is WR (and really just outside WR). Bru McCoy should sort that out assuming he comes here.

Other than that it looks like we have pretty good depth pretty much everywhere.

I wouldn’t be surprised if our starters are good, but it’s extremely unlikely that we end the season with the same starting lineup. Players get hurt and there are guys in the 2-deep who prevented us from winning games last year.

Players get better tho so we’ll see what happens. And maybe nobody will get hurt 🤷🏻‍♂️

Mincey transfer huge no doubt. Even if he turns out to not be good, we’d be worse if he weren’t here

Yeah and the way our offense works it kind of masks our deficiencies on the offensive line. Against Purdue we were depleted and awful up front, but still had no problem moving the ball.
