Post players

This season? Run your offense through Evina and Rennia and stop throwing it to Cheridene and expect her to turn into Mercedes. If Kasi is in the game in her limited minutes, you can pound the ball into her if she's in good position...not when a Teaira or a Turner is draped all over her.

I know people here are already proclaiming the two incoming 6'5 posts to be an upgrade to what Tennessee has now, but it's likely they won't. Keys looks like she needs serious strength training and Sanders looks to be another Faith Dupree type player. Maybe by their junior year (or not, if Holly is in charge of their player development), but I expect them to be foul machines for most of next year.

They need to take away Kasi's bag of cookies and commit her to improving her fitness for next year. How good Tennessee's inside game will be next year will live or die by her development.

Just wonder if the two bigs you speak of will stay the course and still come to this "sinking or sunken ship". Just a thought, if they do stay the course, I wonder if it is because they might think getting in somewhere else might not be to easy.

Green will graduate and I doubt KK would transfer. I doubt that any power 5 school would pick her up as a transfer at this point, just given prior performance. She would likely be “downgrading” if she left. Plus she’s still getting minutes, why leave?

I’ve mentioned it before and am still wondering if Kasi’s ever been checked out for the possibility of having a mild case of exercise-induced asthma. Her inability to ever be able to gain good lung conditioning has me worried that there’s some underlying, undiagnosed health issue going onto prevent it. It has been months now since pre-season practices began, and now nearing the end of the season she’s still visibly struggling to breathe? Something feels off about that to me.

I think the "off" is just a case of lazy, and as from the staff's position, who we got in these desperate time that could do better. This is just one grain of sand in an over loaded truck of sand that is this program. That program, by the way, is being mismanaged by a staff that needs to be replaced.

Also, I know we all love to bash Holly, but from what I understand Dean is primarily the person who works with the post players. I believe most of the blame for their poor development rests on his shoulders. He always feels like he’s such a big shot because he was Candace’s go to coach, but to be perfectly fair she was already a complete player. Pat simply motivated her to be dominant, she didn’t need developing.

Mercedes needed developing, Cheridene needed developing, KK needs developing and we haven’t seen any of it. Mercedes improved very little basketball wise in her time at UT. She finally got healthy and was able to contribute more her last season simply because she was bigger and finally more mobile than most other post players. Her hands never improved, she continued to put the ball on the floor and have it stolen and she never became that player you could 100% count on for a bucket, even against significantly smaller defenders.

Ready for this whole staff to move on except Sharona and BG. BG is the only one that will let a player have it, and right now we need someone who can be tough.

Plus it will be KK job to lose next year ? You will have three players going at it in practice. I also talk to someone at key game last Friday and they said Key is listed at 6-5 but now stands at 6-6 i also saw 6-6 Azura Stevens a good friend of Key i forgot Stevens went to Cary HS. I think Key and Saunders will push KK in practice which should me her a better player.

I knew this was going to happen with Vandy another first of teams that have no fear of coming into TBA and playing the LV's, kind of reminds you of the football team. What a complete and total embarrassment to the LV program.

My skepticism about her is that it's all too common in WCBB to have post players that were dominant players in HS not because they were skilled but because they were taller. Then they come to college and struggle against players just as tall and athletic as they are, if not more. Expecting a lower rated freshman post to come in and be an immediate difference maker would be unusual. There are exceptions, and they usually benefit from good coaching or a well developed system...and as you know, Tennessee has Holly.
Truth. KK's problem is all about athleticism, fine motor skills and inability to get off her feet.
