Have you seen him against some of our other players?

Did you see him behind center yesterday?

He may be 6'3 at best and 185 lbs soaking wet. He's one good hit away from being hurt

Yeah, he looks a lot bigger than last year. Dobbs wasn't huge. I didn't see him as small.

Dormandy was good, maybe a little too good. He didn't miss a pass but what's that tell you? Familiarity with defenders perhaps through numerous practice sessions. I want a pass oriented offense but mobile qb helps out when passing and running game is off. (See Dobbs).
What I saw out of QD was the qb mechanics that make NFL scouts drool. Overall, this youngster reminds me of Joe Montana. With his immaculate foot-work, his pocket presence and a notable proclivity to "land" his passes into the receivers' hands in such a manner as to be properly away from defenders while, at the same time, easy to catch, set him apart from lots of other qbs, who're very good in their own rights. Those are rare mechanics and not merely products of whatever type of scrimmage or game is going on. May the best man win this competition. I'm guessing that we're going to be seeing more west coast in this teams west coast offense with QD in there. Not knocking Dobbs...I've always supported him...but had he possessed QD's arm and passer's touch, team 120 could've won a coupla more last year. Just my humble opinion.

Does it hurt you or ruin your time on VolNation to see someone start a thread that resembles anothe thread?

Actually, yeah, it impacts our time....everyone's time.

If you want to talk the QBs, it's nice to have one place where you know everyone's getting together to talk QBs.

If you want to discuss how the field held up, nice to have one place to go for that.

Splitting any conversation up into three or four parallel bits just forces those who want to talk about it to jump around.

It's not life-threatening serious stuff, but yeah, it makes a difference. Saves all our time and makes finding the conversation you want a little more predictable. This is why the mods merge the same-topic threads, or at least used to.

So...yeah.

ALSO, many on VN have stated that QD is the starter and if he isnt then Butch needs to be fired.

Well then both camps would be making ignorant statements. Why defend or participate in either and make oneself look just as ignorant?

JG is not the answer right now

Too small. He needs to add weight. He will get abused by defenders in the SEC.

i agree with this. if UT had a game this Saturday, the smart move would be to have QD as the starter. Perhaps things will change in the next few months, but for right now, it's Dormady

My honest opinion, I think QD will be successful depending on a few things.

1. OL play. There's no way he can succeed or anyone unless they are gifted running like Dobbs with our OL from the past few years. Absolutely terrible protection against the pass. If they protect QD then he can make his throws.

2. Maturity and Relaxed. He has to show us that he can be relaxed at all times even if we get down or are coming down to final plays.

3. Game managing. He doesn't have to put up Heisman numbers but he has to control the game by being reliable and making defenses respect his game. Also, it will help our defense a ton by keeping them off the field. Problems in the past three years have been three and outs and our defense being fatigued.
