We may have hired the right guy.

We 100% hired the right defensive staff.

Our 2nd team offensive line we had in for the second half of the game, only gave up 1 sack.

We held the best offense in the country to 7 points in the second half.

What do you have?

What the tee totaled hell you talking about the right defensive staff? Their QB GASHED US OVER AND AND OVER THE ENTIRE GAME USING THE SAME FREAKIN' DRAW PLAY. WE NEVER ADJUSTED OR WERE EFFECTIVE DEFENDING IT IF WE DID. Corral got over 200 yards rushing or close to it, I quit keeping up with it when he had a 185.

We have an incredible football staff. My worry is that we won’t have the players we need to truly compete for a 2-3 years, and I’m not sure this fan base will wait that long, sadly.

Going to be about getting players and what happened last night won't help that cause. Ole Miss was a QB better than us and that was it...

We lost half our team to the transfer portal, was playing with our backup OL and backup RB, and it still took a screw job by the refs to keep us from beating the #13 team. In year One of a new coach. I just hope this team continues fighting after this.

What did you want them to do? QB spy, they tried that but our LBs we getting gashed. Our game plan was to play some zone and not give up major plays for TDs. We did that. We have very little talent on defense, especially at LB. What we did against that offense defensively was impressive. Everyone looks at yards, but who cares when they aren’t giving up points.

Transfer portal will speed that up...think that's an easy sell for disgruntled 4-5*s riding the bench at UGA/Bama, etc. Having Hooker for another year gives us a baseline to build.

Our team played great and we were in it all night against the #13 team in the nation. We were picked to lose, but we put on a tremendous display of improvement. Its unfortunate that we (Vol fans) took this away from our players based on other events. I couldn't be more proud of our players and coaches. I am prepared for several more losses but also know we are heading in the right direction. GBO!

I am a positive person, but it’s too early for this. I am still biting through my wallet type mad. Absolutely hosed.

Ole Miss is a one man offensive team. If not for Corral, even as decimated we are with injuries, we win that game by 10+ points. Corral had at least 8 first down conversions on 3 rd and 4 th down with QB draws or scrambles Which wore down our defense and extended drives. Without those, not sure the game would have been close

We’ve got the right staff. No doubt in my mind.

Remember, we have 71 scholarship, with half the starters injured.

Depth will cost us this year. Not effort. Not coaching. Simply a lack of depth.

I hope we can snag a whole set of lineman and a couple backs this recruiting cycle. We are so thin there.

This staff has done things right and the kids are buying in. Once we have a little depth we will be really good. We’re competitive now with a bunch of injuries.

Those are solid points--not sunny delight. And Tennessee's resurgence would be the talk of the conference today (if not for the few lacking in impulse control).

Been there myself. But it's not worth it, and your life is worth much more. Go hug someone you love and reset your emotions to the things that are really important. Refs screwed the team. No reason to empower them to screw us, too (and our loved ones who have to be around us) a day later.

Even Vegas doesn't pay 'em enough for that amount of influence.

Halftime adjustments. We came out in the third quarter moving the ball. Yes, we still couldn't stop their QB from running on third down but I think that's more reflective of our depth, skill and speed. Plus their kid is a Heisman candidate.

We had multiple chances to win that game, if this is was any other UT team the past 10 years, that game is over before the half. A lot to clean up and silly mistakes and play calling ultimately cost us the game, regardless of the subpar reffing. Win at Kentucky and let’s get to 7-5.

We didn’t win last night, and outside of the ending with the fan base, there is a lot to be excited about. Our defense was putting up a good fight against one of the best offenses in the country with one of the best play callers and the Heisman front runner. Our offense is potent. We were missing our best offensive lineman, starting center, and stud RB. Considering where we’ve been and the roster, I’d say coach is doing a helluva job thus far. He is ahead of schedule. He’s got the X’s and O’s. Now we need the Jimmy’s and Joe’s. It’s been the opposite for a while up to this point. Stadium was electric from what it sounded like on tv.

Outside of the trashy ending, we should feel the best we’ve felt about this football program in a long time. Probably since 2016 when we beat UF, UGA, and took A&M to double OT before the season fell apart.

Thanks, you’re right. Another Braves win today would certainly help to ease my pain too, thats for sure…

UT can still finish strong though. Let’s keep our foot on the gas and our heads to the sky. GBO

I thought while the analysts were talking about injuries on Ole Miss and Lane was making excuses for being stifled in the game, they didn't talk enough about Tennessee's key injuries on both sides of the ball and lack of depth.

True but they were without their 3 best receivers they really had only one weapon on offense and that weapon gashed us all night long. We had no answer so before we erect statues of our new coaching staff we should ask why we had no answer for 1 player. I think we all forget Ole Miss had several dropped passes we were fortunate to even be in the game.

The team fought like hell the entire game. There were glaring issues, like not stopping Baker Mayfield Jr at all.
We could have won.

-we looked tight and discombobulated in the first half.
-We looked calm and ready in the 2nd.
Hooker was the difference in both.
-On the fit pitching series Hooker was in straight panic mode. Not looking down field and lost.
-on the 4th down play he found his calm and threw a strike while being hit. It’s a shame that moment was stolen from him. To me it looked a lot like Crompton figuring it out in the 4th quarter the game before he went on the run of great qb play.

it’s not lost on me the people who get upset when you talk about Hookers development as an insult then dog trash Milton.

-Milton came in and actually threw a decent touch pass that hit a receiver in the hands for a wound be winning score.
-then he inexplicably doesn’t throw the ball on the last play. You can see him look to the clock as he runs out of bounds. The knock on Milton has been situational awareness. That appears to still be the problem. He had to know it was only 3 seconds when he took the snap but he didn’t play that play as if he was aware of it.


Overall it appears that CJH is our guy to bring us back to relevance.
It’d be nice to have a few more bodies though
