I did wonder why Georgia does not feel quite like the rivalry as someone like Bama and read some interesting history. Even though we have played each other every year since 1992, prior to that it was more sporadic. In fact, Georgia and Tennessee once went 31 years (1938-67) without playing at all, back when teams were in charge of their own conference scheduling. Tennessee had a stronger rivalry with Georgia Tech, which was an SEC member. The rivalry picked up, but only a bit, playing four times between 1974 and 1991. It took the SEC switching to divisions in 1992 to create an annual game, but even then, it often took a backseat. Don't get me wrong, I hate Georgia and since 1992 it has always been a very important game but it does not have the history I expected.
